ALBERT COLLINS/ROBERT CRAY/JOHNNY COPELAND SHOWDOWN!

Post by hotrodperlmutter »

i moved all my records out of my folks house this last weekend, and just last night put them in their (hopefully) final resting place. they'll be going in my spare bedroom so when folks come sleep at mah house, they can see what good of muzac taste i has!

while sorting through them, i found this:

has anyone heard this record? i knew it won a grammy, but i never noticed copeland is holding a peavey T-60 on the cover!

i've never seen a "blues" player play a peavey. just figured i'd share.

99% of music in any genre blows. Plenty of really good early blues - sonny boy williamson, peetie wheatshaw, tommy and Robert Johnson, all genuine stuff. RL Burnside and the Blues Explosion was great modernblues stuff with grit. If we're talking lawyerPRS blues I completely agree.

Saw a great documentary on the British blues explosion quoting one of the old blues dudes who came over:
"Those boys really wanted to play the blues bad. And they did"

how the FUCK have i missed this?
those are three of my favorite artists ever and i've missed the boat on knowing abotu this shit.

ALSO:
i saw robert cray live a while back, he played some nice sounding Matchless amps with Strats. very tight and professional uptight 'blues'. didn't really dig it.
