I havent seen these before. When did they decide to milk it?

i think the all black hh jag has turned out to be pretty popular in the states, so they've been dipping their toe in other colors. throw in a couple of decent humbuckers to replace the dragsters, and you got your kurtified jag (for the most part) for under $700 new.

It would be great to have maybe the other matching headstock colors
that Japan has.

definitely, but i think they're trying to see if there is a market for it first. this is where the flooding of the market with such high numbers of strats and teles for so long bites fender in the ass. fender japan has offered such variety for so long that their buyers just expect to see affordable models of these guitars with lots of options. ask your friends in the states, on the other hand, about mustangs and jags, and they'll say, "yeah, those are cool cars." =]

These have been on the US ebay new over the last couple of years - I have a body from one bought for silly money (when the exchange rate was sily to compensate) from Stratosphere. Still undecided whether to do something with it or sell it. i know if I sell it it will be at a major loss but if i do something with it it opens up all that expense... booo to exchange rates now.

The redburst is surprisingly sexy. When I read "redburst" my first throught was "ew", but it doesn't look anything like my mind conjured up :)
