plan b time.
after trying to come up with something sans pitchshifter, i'm admitting defeat. you just can't get a similar vibe without it.
so i'm gonna try on of those behringer multi fx pedals. there the ones that are housed in a normal bossringer enclosure.
it has pitch/phaser/chorus etc in one little box. even if i just plug it in for the one song, think it'll work out ok.
band people who do covers, i ask you this question.

The lazy way to do the solo in a cover song is to just be sure that you play the beginning and the end of the solo the same way that the original artist did.
The middle can just be in the same vibe and no-one will notice.
Yes without Steve Howe is kind of sacrilegious to me. Trevor Rabin era......
From wiki:
"Rabin's disorienting, schizophrenic guitar solo, which was played through an MXR Pitch Transposer, which mixed the original note with one a perfect fifth higher."
do you have another guitar player in your band? You can just have the other dude play the fifth.

nah, just me on guitar. though i've been messing with my bass players octave pedal. not the same, but sounds pretty nice for the solo.
