Danelectro Cool Cats

Just grabbed a V1 Drive for Â£29. This pedal has been discontinued so thought I would grab one before stocks run out. If rumours are to believed it sounds like the Fulltone OCD V1, so much so that Danelectro are saying they have changed the V2 of the Drive so it doesn't sound like the OCD due to all the flack they have been getting.

I don't have a Fulltone to compare it with but I am mighty impressed with the Cool Cat. Always stayed away from Danelectro as they look, errrr, well, a bit crap. The knob position is a bit annoying, but my opinion has changed. If the rest of the range sounds as good as the Drive, will certainly be picking up a few more in the new year.

My plastic dano minis from 2001 held up better than EHX effects of the same age innit.

For $25, they sound darn similiar and I may have to get one. I am turning into quite the pedal whore here lately. I bought a pedaltrain pro and I am already out of room.

I have to say, I was very sceptical but the Cool Cat range is Metal, has True bypass switching, feels solid enough and sounds sodding amazing for something that costs less than a decent cable!!!! Does it sound like an OCD?????? I think the real question is does the OCD sound Â£100 better?????????

i really HAET that dano named a series "cool cat" after they'd already made a brilliant stereo chorus pedal with the same name years and years ago.

I have both, and if the cool cat was in an ocd shell, I reckon I would opt for the Dano on sound alone. It's slightly higher gain, and slightly less wooly. That's what might preferences would be, but my thinking is the ocd would probably prove its worth at higher gigging volumes. It has a bit more bite & would no doubt cut through the mix a little better.

That's the copy of the timmy... so check that out.

It has quite a bit less gain, and works well as a boost for a crunchy amp lets say.

I am a big EHX fan. I currently have the Small Clone, The Worm(XO), The Wiggler, and The Holy Stain. I hope to eventually get the POG2, Memory Boy, Polychorus and maybe the Cathedral.

When i first got the Cool Cat Fuzz off Reece i thought it was a bit whatever but its become one of my main pedals, awesome for what they retail at.

ALL the Danelectro pedals will hold up if NOT abused. There are those that believe that if it's made to be "stepped" on it's OK to "stomp" it ! Well that ain't(sic) the case. Nothing will hold up to repeated stompings. Just take care of your gear and if you bought with your own hard earned money I'm sure you'll treat it with the proper respect.
