Hey.

I've got an Ibanez SD9 sonic distortion that I love but the switch is gonzo and the pots need cleaning.

How tough would it be to rehouse it and add a 3DPT switch???

I really want to keep this sucker.

Also, where would I get myself a housing and switch?

If it's too complicated, maybe I'll get someone to do it for me.

what's with the double spacing?

not that difficult if you can find the in and out from teh pcb for the switch. the rehousing is easy.

SD9 uses a momentary switching system - you'd have to figure out how to hack the effect into being "always on" before you could do the true-bypassing.

why not just change the pots and keep the housing. the buffer in ibanez pedals is good

Well I'm not sure what's up with the switch. Maybe it isn't the switch, but the effect bleeds into teh clean signal when teh effect is disengaged.

Any clues?

I would convert it to true bypass in that case. It sounds like the FET switching has gone wrong

This is interstring- not many parts so maybe cloning is an option.

It looks like a Tubescreamer with hard clipping instead of soft clipping.

I made something similar the other day while fiddling with the TL072. I definately prefer the sound of hard clipping.

Yea, it's a more intense tubescreamer and it's great. Really 'sonic' like the name implies.
Me I'm gonna read up on how to make this thing true bypass.

I am gonna have to rehouse it though, because the og housing is also mangled.
This thing is fine otherwise. I really want this particular effect to be useful again.

The clone idea is a good one however.

Can either of you pull off a clone of an SD9?
