EB Volume Pedal JR: Complete Shite?

Post by Haze »

So I hooked up the full pedalboard tonight to include my new VPJR. It has no more than 20 minutes tops of playing time since the day I got it so I was quite excited to have a go with it. Everything gets hooked but no output from the board. After some troubleshooting it turns out the VPJR was the source of my problem. I ran directly into it and out to the amp to eliminate any other variables and it still was not producing any sound no matter where the treedle sat.
The tuner out still works. Whig makes sense because it is hardwired to the input jack from the pcb. Not a whole lot that can go wrong there.
The "effected" output does not work as it should. At one point it was not producing any of my signal. Another it seemed like it was bypassing the treedle. But mostly it is taking my signal and cutting it in half (volume wise)
is this an issue of the pot heading south? Inside, there's only 3 wires going from the pot to the pcb - they don't appear to be shorted out.

Any similar experiences with this pedal? Isaac has had his for a good while before it broke down, and I know aen has also been using one aswell.

Do I even bother with sending it back to Ernie Ball for "repairs" and run the risk of this happening again?
I could pobably return it to music123 seeing as how it is defective so soon after i had recieved it from them. But then I would still want a quality volume pedal.

If I'm not mistaking it's a little string that rotates the pot, correct? Maybe check that the string is actually rotating the pot instead of just gliding over it?

I dont have the JR haze. But mine has only broken down twice in the 6 years Ive had it. and its just the little string going crazy, and Ive noticed that only has happened when I expose my pedal board to the cold. I guess it gets too cold and then breaks. I think you just got a dud. Send it back and get a different one.

good idea I'll check for that in the morning. If so I can't think of any way to prevent this from happening
