also: i don't understand how these people feel it's ok to make stuff, but not back it 100%. these are people who should go out of business rather quickly in the confines of a capitalist system.

and i had forgotten that he charges $20 per hole change. most of the time, that's almost half if not all of the purchase price on top of the original cost. that's fucking mentally ill. so you mean to tell me, you're time is so valuable that moving the bit another few mm's is worth a jackson? i don't think so, oh but wait, you don't give a fuck what i think.

I do not do lay out work for free.
I figured it would be easer for you to place it where you want it to get it in the right place.
If i drill it it may not go into your body.
You seem to not be using this guard for a musicmaster stock bass body.

I've only ordered one pickguard ever. It was for my classic player Jaguar from Terrapin. Dude assured me that he could make a pickguard that would fit the CP, but it didn't. After explaining more, providing a template and trying again, he still got it wrong, but at least it was less wrong, so I fixed it all with a dremel.

yea, this is why I think a guy like robert could very rightfully charge a decent price to do pickguards because A.) he knows about guitars B.) he can understand peoples projects C.) he's a nice guy. as we have seen, those are very valuable traits to have when doing this kind of business. like, I would pay a decent amount more than jeannie just to be able to deal with someone with those skills.

The hard part will be getting /making templates of the pickguards. Strat and Teles would be easy. Might want some bodies for testing the pickguards. A couple of tools but nothing too expensive. I have one spare Jagmaster pickguard I could practice with until I get my process down. I am seriously thinking about it though.

My local guitar luthier offers classes that I may take this summer. This pickguard buidling kinda goes along with my general desire to learn more about guitar maintenance and building. His classes include: setup 1 & 2 , electronics. refretting, kit building, custom nut and saddle making, custom routing. The refretting class is pretty price though. ($600). Definitely considering setup and electronic classes for sure.

there really isn't. A sheet of quality pg material is about the price of a standard pickguard and unless your making a jazzmaster pg you can probably get 2 guards out of one sheet. If you mess up on of those two possible guards the most you can make would only be enough to break even. A lot of things can go wrong with custom jobs since models certain models (particularily telecasters) are very inconsistent.
