I'm really loving that. £170, too.

those switches are in a weird place and seem too small, but i like the overall idea.

they look the same (in location and size) to fernandes sustainer switches. but I'm guessing they're probably for coil tapping or phase switching of some sort.

very cool guitar. alden makes some cool stuff. you can't get them in the states though. we'll just have to stick with rondo and GFS.

Alden are nice guitars, great necks. My only complaint with that model is the bridge, its just wrong. Should have been a wrapover.

Tony Iommi's main SG has a bridge like that, a luthier built it for him in the 70s. They could've been going for, as eric put it, sabbath on a budget.

edit- I was wrong and Fran is right

Dude.... i would love a Jaydee SG
They made a Strat type guitar in the 80s named the 'Hooligan', i saw one on ebay but like a twat i did'nt buy it. Iommi also used UK builders; John Birch (Nottingham YAY) and Patrick Eggle.

It looks like a strat and an SG had ugly sex and something half-decent came out of it. You know when you see hideous parents with a fairly normal, good-looking child? It's like that. Three single-coil sized pickups, a strat bridge, five-way switch married to an SG shaped body with set neck (for £170?). I really like it. I'd replace those pickups, probably, cheap rails are usually.. cheap.

For an American alternative, there are a few Aldens that are basically rebadged Jay Tursers (or the other way round, I don't know, it gets confusing) so you might want to have a look. This one still has the Jay Turser symbol on the headstock, so it's a fair bet that you might be able to find it under that label in the USA.

And colossally fucking shart too. Wow I like fugly guitars and that is the most godawful example in every possible way except the way i like. I actually feel violent toward it and I'm a total coward. Saved pics for reference and eye masochism.
