Best machine heads?

Those split-shaft Kluson types are so easy to string, I reckon. Plus they look OG on a Strat.
EDIT - I forgot my hot tip for easy Kluson stringing - use a round toothpick, just kink the string to go down the hole, jam a toothpick in there with it, and it stays locked in place while you wind it up. Dead easy.

Schaller Lock is more pratice than Gotoh Lock. Both work´s perfect.
Fender Top notch like Aka American Deluxe use Schaller M6 Lock, Ibanez Top Line like JEM Use Gotoh.

As far as modern-style tuners go, I like Sperzels a lot. I've had both locking and non-locking and they've never let me down. Grover is pretty good too...I have some on my strat, and they were stock on my Epi Sheraton II. IMO though, Sperzel is the way to go. I do have to say that I've owned several guitars with Kluson tuners (the official reissues) and never had problems with those either. The post width and hole size are different, but if you really want to fit them, there are companies that make adapter bushings.
