It's hard to see what the Mexican Standards have got going for them now.
i was looking at buying a tele recently and wondered in the Mexico Standard was worth the extra £100?

NOT ON YOUR LIFE.

MIM standard Vs CV 50s tele
a) average neck shape. Squier has a bigger neck to fill the palm, like a telecaster neck should
b) almost finishless neck. Squier has a glossy tinted neck, like a telecaster should
c) Heavy as fuck. Squier has apine body which is nice and light like a telecaster should be

The only thing the MIM has on the CV is the bridge which intonates in any tuning, but that is a quick and easy swap on the CV, in fact corksniffers will often give away their "useless" 6-saddle bridges if not trade you staraight up for your "tone machine" 3 saddle.

It looks like the Jazz Bass has blocks but not binding? The Anderton site says they have only one and for £1,600. I was hoping it would be a full run model.

Road Worn? It's £799 in the UK which is batshit. When I bought my black one back in the day it was £525 which was pricey enough.

I would say they'll be about $799.

dolphin are doing the 50s road worn tele for £639 at the moment. i wish they just did them with a straight nitro finish, i'd maybe consider buying one in that instance. the fake wear just makes them look naff, like that hideous joe strummer thing.

I know it's cool to diss them or whatever, but I have actually seen and played one, and I also own a real vintage Jaguar, and have played many old Fenders and I have to say, I don't think they look naff at all, and it's a far cry from the Strummer Tele. Not in the same ballpark.

It doesn't look and feel exactly like an old guitar, but it is very close.

Also why would you want a Nitro finish? Corksniffer.
