Post by weeping_moon »

Good settings for a Peavy vale king 4x12 tube amp, without a dist pedal, and other pedals...
Tell me, how to turn the buttons, on a great setting...
Thanks!

I have the 1 x 12 combo version and I really like the clean channel straight up. I'm also fond of channel two with the gain just above 7 o' clock and the treble up. That's just me though.

Also if you've got low and high inputs plug into whichever and use one of those jack adaptor plugs in the other input. There's quite a lot of stuff about on the web. I've know idea what it does but it sounds better.

Amp settings are highly dependent on the type of guitar you are playing. I set up my amps very differently if I am using a guitar with single coils vs. humbuckers, for example.

I find that a decent way to find a good setting is to roll every EQ knob to zero. Then close your eyes and roll up the treble until you feel that it is present but not piercing. Then do the same for the bass, bringing it up until you hear a little bit of thump without getting too flabby. And last, the mids to taste. This doesn't always work for every amp though, because some are "interactive" and have to be adjusted differently. But it definitely works for most Fender and Marshall-style amps I've played.

When you look at the settings, you may be surprised to find that the knobs are not at a nice 12 o'clock/50%/"5" position, rather they may be closer to either extreme.

My suggestion would be to not worry too much about what other people are doing, and focus on what makes your guitars sound good.

What Aeon wrote is the best advice you're going to get, IMO

Are you using the originally provided object that your amplifier sits on and emits sound trough?

And yet another Finn. Soon there will be Finnscales going on here.
