It's quite cool they wuold enter into the Small Amp market. As typical for Mesa it looks featureladen.

OVERVIEW
Introducing the TransAtlantic™ TA-15, the new micro-dynamo from MESA Engineering®. While we may be the last to show at the lunchbox amp party, there is good reason for our stylishly late appearance… we saw another chance to redefine a genre.
The TA-15 packs all the footswitchable performance – including our patented MULTI-WATT™ Channel Assignable Power – found in our high-end full-size models and offers the most classic British and American sounds in a beautiful 12 3/8W x 6 3/4D x 5 7/8H package that weighs only 12 pounds!
Two channels feature 5 Modes that cross the Atlantic with ultimate finesse and flexibility, creating the most portable all-tube gig companion ever. Choose a preamp style in each channel and then select the perfect power for it from 3 super expressive output choices; 5 Watts Single-Ended CLASS A, 15 Watts CLASS A or 25 Watts of patented Dyna-Wattâ„¢ power.
The Channel Modes start off with lower gain NORMAL and higher gain classic versions of the iconic TOP BOOST sound in Channel 1, which includes an ingenious Pull MASTER on the CUT control that can be Hard Bypassed for purists. Channel 2 houses three Modes; a gorgeous TWEED™ clean, a British high gain in HI 1 and a classic Boogie® Lead in HI 2.
All this Tone and performance comes to you travel-ready in its sturdy padded gig bag that holds both Power Cable and Footswitch and allows easy access of the Retractable Handle. So prepare for a smooth Crossing as you enjoy the best of both sides of the pond with the new TransAtlanticâ„¢.

Something tells me they'll want at least £500 for it...

Considering the flexibility, featureset and the bomb proof construction that typifies every Mesa product I have ever seen, I think that is a very reasonable price.
The Dual Terror from Orange has two channels, no voicing changes and less flexible power switching, it also doesn't come with a footswitch. It is manufactured in China and costs £499.
£600 sounds not so bad in comparison. An extra £100 for all that?

No doubt.
I'd be really interested in seeing something like this, 22 Watt but just a head for £150

for £600 one could buy a vintage head in good condition, and I think I've seen used AC30s going for about the same.

I think it's exceptionally well priced, hell it's the cheapest amplifier that Mesa offers. I've played my share of them and they are fantastic amplifiers. If the voicings are anything like they are on the Roadster then I'm sold. Mesa makes some of the best quality amplifiers and this one doesn't seem any different.
I also really like the clean sound from a recto tube, very warm and punchy. The Roadster that I've logged many hours on is mind boggling. The tweed voicing sounds like the real deal, very raunchy and dynamic.
Cheapest Mesa
It's a Mesa

I own the V55HD. It's not all that loud and it has a Master Volume. Why not buy that, at £250 is still very, very cheap.nwordjim wrote:No doubt.

Used AC30s? CC's no doubt - again - Chinese construction. Not comparable pricewise.
No. I'm not talking about CCs, I'm talkign late 70s or 80s AC30s.Mike wrote:I own the V55HD. It's not all that loud and it has a Master Volume. Why not buy that, at £250 is still very, very cheap.nwordjim wrote:No doubt.

This one is going for £500

Looks very clean.
Yeah that V55HD looks really nice, I just wish they had one with out any effects, and only 22 watts that was, of course, cheaper. £250 is an excellent price for that amp though. I'll probably end up buying it.
Mesa makes great stuff, but I can't justify spending £600 on it, when I could get an old Marshall head fromt he 80s for as much.
JCM 900 for £450 http://www.gumtree.com/london/54/51766954.html

JCM900s are horrible, trust me. That head is not worth more than £350. The only ones worth bothering with are the SLXs. I have an '81 JCM800 2204. THAT is an Amp.
I don't know much about AC30s but aren't the ones from the 60s the ones people want?
If you don't like the V55HD Reverb, just turn the knob to 0. Personally I like it, and I've never been a reverb fan - I still don't use it live - but it can be nice for practise at home.
Seriously stop getting hung up on 22 Watts vs 55 Watts, in real sound terms the difference is miniscule in terms of output. It's 3dB

Sure, everyone wants 1960s AC30 but the 70s ones are nice too.Mike wrote:JCM900s are horrible, trust me. That head is not worth more than £350. The only ones worth bothering with are the SLXs. I have an '81 JCM800 2204. THAT is an Amp.

No, it's nto that I have a problem with the reverb, it's just that I want an all tube head for super cheap. My thinking is if they lowered the watts and got rid of the effects they could do one cheaper... not that £250 is a fortune but imagine if you could get a head for £150 new!
1. Cheap Tube Head
2. ???
3. Profit
