That burst is really dark, so it goes with the black guard, if it was a bright burst it would require tort.

I've been quite lucky on eBay and found a couple for pretty cheap.
The mint one is actually a noho guard from a long time ago.

Gotcha. I do quite like the brown tort, and I've been playing my Jag a whole lot more lately since Fran sent me spare bridge grub screws for it. I'll have to keep my eye out, thanks for the great idea!

+1
That's what I'm rocking on my Jag.
Hell yeah, that's what my Jagmaster looked like. So much more ace than tort. Sunburst is ugly enough by its own accord.

Sorry to disappoint, but it's not going to happen - I like the white.

I'm not a fan of anything but tort against Sunburst. I think Black looks way 70s in not a good way, and white just confuses me and gives me 50s Rockabilly fear.

You can't beat the real thing, but the brown stuff ain't bad.

What do you mean "real thing"? I thought there was only brown and red tort.

The vintage stuff is different, just look at the difference between the two guitars. My '66 isn't red as much as a halfway point between modern red and modern brown, with also added M@j@

I think it depends what guitar it is. I had a tort on sunburst Strat for ages but couldn't get on with it, so I replaced it with white. I like black or white scratchplates on Jags just for a bit of a change, and I think black on B&B Jags works well.
