Dudes, I gots to know..
Am I the only one who prefers a sunburst to look like this
rather than this, which looks like its farther down in the body in relation to the pickguard.

Definitely skinny... and on an offset body. It doesn't jive so well with Straty types.

I only like sunburst when it's beat up as hell.

Yeah, 70sburst is wayy to funky lookin sometimes. I can only jive with certain strats that have a sunburst that doesnt look like the pickguard is 10x bigger than the burst. But sunbursts on offsets are the sex.

Yep, I'm with Haze. I like the red band to be as thick as possible on sunbursts. Yep, they do look better with wear.

For me I don't like it super fat or super skinny, I don't really like for example when a lot of the orange/red peeks next to the upper control plate on a Jag for example. I like that whole horn to be black
Mine look like this:

I prefer this (1973) to skinnies in the 3-colour burst:
This is my new (2008) Siena burst - the new guitarist in my band has one identical but '80s.

I've never really been that interested in it before but it's quite interesting I suppose that Haze's '64 looks like 3-colour whereas mine looks much more like a 2-colour, which could be because the red is just very subtle...

I'm with mike... the 'red' pokes out on the top 'horn' of my jagmaster and I always thought it looked odd.

<3 Sienna burst. My gibson has the best burst I've seen on any guitar (broken piece of shit), Fireburst or whatever they call it.

that's very interesting. my jagmaster and jaguar are very clearly 3TS, and have the red 'peeking' through at the top control plate. yours appears to have a very dark and more conspicuous red, with none peeking through at the top.
i never noticed both of yours are like that. i love subtle differences.

It's weird innit?
I know there's going to be differences but sunburst is crazy different even in the same year. You get the target burts, Faux Bursts and then the weird ones like mine.
It's such a marmite finish. I can only deal with it on a Jaguar with a Tort pickguard because of TEH KURTZ

HENCE WHY IT IS BRILLIANT.
really don't like a lot of red on sunbursts thinking about it. my jaguar looks closer to two tone than three.

Only works on Jags.
I feel much cooler playing my Sonic Blue P Bass than I do Doog's sunburst Jazz Bass (even though it's a better instrument)
