i had one of those awful teisco/top twenty/audition things that i bought for £20 a couple of years back-

Image

it was unplayable, no two ways about it. i broke it up for parts and chucked them on ebay, the auctions ended today and i made £60.

the only things i kept were the strap buttons, knobs and a spare pickup that fran gave me. totally worth doing if you have one taking up space, there's obviously a market for them (deaf people presumably).

I wish I'd known about this - tweaked one for a friend at work, but I need some six-in-a-row tuners.

I've got the 6 in a rows teisco tuners I pulled for my failed Mustang Kali project. If you want them they're yours for shipping.

I may take you up on it (and thanks) but like I say, he's a bit of a tool, so I'm loathe to jump through hoops for him.

You guys can talk all the shit you want about these guitars, but they have this uncanny aurora about them.

I'm not going to lie and say the thing played like a '59 Les Paul, but it had a very distinct characteristic about it from the tone to the feel. And after giving it a thorough set up, it actually felt and played better than a lot of guitars out on the market now.

And I'd love to have another one to platform another project on. If you find one of these in your Uncle's basement or down at a tag sale, pick it up. I'll buy it!

If it makes you feel any better, they're real shit quality tuners. But they are period correct. ;)

mine had an uncanny twist in the neck and didn't hold tune for more than 10 seconds, maybe yours is better.

Fucked neck here as well. If you get one with a solid neck, you're in the clear. I love their pickups.

Can I include my POS Harmony?
Image
Besides some sharp fret ends, a working vibrato, and no pup switch, it's a great guitar. The Open Gear "pos" Tuners hold tune great, the neck is thin and plays well, and there is no scratchy pots.

I probably won't sell it, it's worth too much to me in my opinion, being my first vintage guitar, a christmas present, and some time of mine put into it. How much would you be willing to pay?

this little lady has served me well over the years. if the intonation was adjustable it would be played a lot more often. the frets are a little worn but otherwise the neck is in great condition. she sounds damn near identical to my epi sg jr. with a slightly hotter output.

Is teisco one of the guitars kurt cobain used to play? Or maybe it was an epiphone or something...i dont remember. I was always curious about how those old guitars sounded, but i never try them because im afraid ill be disappointed.
