well, i won the body. i talked about the switches. i love the bronco. i talked about the neck. i approve.

edit: would this work? they say it's a 24" scale neck, but i'm not sure how it could be if it's 21 frets. any idears?

I seem to remember somebody once mentioning on here that those necks are actually conversion necks, so they're made to basically make a normal 25.5 scale fender into a short scale 24. I'm not sure if that's true though.

obviously it's supposedly a '73 body. i got a '78 bronco neck from a guy that had filled in all the holes on the neck with dowels, so i kinda had planned to have the neck set and drilled professionally, but then he said he'd wire everything up and set it up for another $40.

i love soldering, and i'm not horrible at it, but i work 60+ hrs weekly, and spending time on this is not something i can do with a new house, and impending nuptials. made perfect sense to have it done right, all at the same place (www.midwesternmusic.com).

body: '73 mustang refinished in OTM/Candy Rotten Apple Seafoam
neck: '78 bronco with F tuners (slot head), bone nut (?), white pearl dots
pg: og white pearl with 110v panel 3 way switch (huge, one piece - no tip)
bridge/vibrato: '66 trem unit/plate from parts guitar auction, Fender RI bridge (oops)
control plate: '65 from parts guitar auction (major screw mojo)
knobs: RI jazz bass from parts bin
pickups: neck - road worn strat, bridge - dragonfire hot rail 10.8k(?)
pots: 500k mini, switchcraft jack

for a parts guitar, it came together rather nicely. i had it for too long and it was due for completion. i do need to add a string tree, but i haven't noticed it affecting it so far (rocked for about an hour at the shop on a deluxe reverb).

neck is a lot clubbier than i remember on my stang (73 compstang RI - sold), and incredibly fatter than the '66 in dakota red they had at the shop. gol'dern 70's! but it's not hard to play by any means. didn't try the tremolo as i have no bar for it. action is a little higher than i prefer, but not unplayable in the least bit (hot rail is too tall jonze). sounds fan-fucking-tastic clean, and has a nice gritty fuzz (via the DR :E).

only probs:

- lil' e is might close to the edge of the fretboard, thanks to the poorly spaced thimbles on the RI bridge.
- action

other than that, it's bloody wonderful. will be doing a demo, then she's off to thomas to provide the love (i am no longer into them, per se).

EDIT: just played the shit out of it at lunch (albeit unplugged), but it has good resonance, and i like the way she moves.

ah yes, the neck on my '78 mustang is really fat as well. very different than the '77 MM neck I have.

there's 3 different sections for the reason that i simply couldn't contain the badassery in one 9 minute clip. i had to fuck it up stretched like deer hide over 3 babbling paleolithic shitstains.

so it's settled then. i'm a horrible performer/director/editor/player, etc., but i'm glad i got something out now. that way if anyone here every agrees to be within a 5 foot radius of me, they'll get some sort of idea of what to expect.

this is mainly just to get a demo under me belt. suggestions on how to improve my awfulocity?

eventually i'd like to mic everything and record separate audio, as there is the obviously clipping.

*** and in the first one when i say "vintage bridge," i'm talking about the trem unit, but am retards.

I considered putting a toggle on mine (I'd probably try and fit something on the control plate though) the point is simple, if you want to change from the neck pickup to the bridge pickup you have to mess around with 2 slide switches, turning one on and the other off ... massive potential to mess that up in the middle of a song.
