Went to guitar center and picked up a Seagull Entourage Dreadnaught (non electric) for $300. I am blown away by the craftsmanship of this fine Canadian instrument! I am soo happy with it. Anyways i'll get pics up soon. but until then heres a stock picture.

if I ever buy an acoustic, it will probably be an Seagull..

Comparison against what i was using. On the left, my Cort acoustic "Debbie" aka "the Bitch"

Shot of the backs. Debbie is pretty beat up.

The Cort's bridge lifted up. So the Action is ridiculously high.

You can drive a bus under those strings!! But yet i love her! I mean i learned SLTS on her!

The Seagull Sounds AMAZING. I'd say tone wise its like a Martin (i assume cause of the cedar top!) but with a little Taylor Tin.

Very nice! Glad you found a suitable 'coustic.

Seagulls are fantastic. I have an S12+, the day I went to buy a 12-string acoustic I picked up this Fender that was beautiful looking and feeling in my hands, and sounded alright... next tried an Epiphone, also nice... Then I picked up the Seagull and despite having a wider neck (never a good thing for my tiny hands) it just outperformed the Fender in spades and sounded much better than the Epiphone... and was half the price of either... and was electro-acoustic. MINE. I've actually been playing it this morning.
I agree that they sound a bit like flat top Gibsons, or Taylors. That bright, strident dreadnought strum was what I was after as my Martin OO-15 is super bassy and best suited to fingerpicking.

haha the neck although very wide, is incredibly comfortable...and im the guy whos loves the mustang's tiny neck!

i highly recommend it. it blows anything in the same price range out of the water. the next best one i could find was a Martin for $699.

I have complete faith in all of the Godin family guitars... Seagull makes a fantastic instrument at a fantastic price. I really don't understand how other companies can produce lesser instruments at higher costs; it's not like labour is cheap here in Canada, and they're not cutting costs on crap materials... just goes to show how inflated most other prices are.

Good call on your Seagull

When I do buy an acoustic (seeming unlikely, unfotunately, since I inherited a couple) it's either going to be a Seagull A series or a Godin 5th Avenue. Great clarity and tonal response from these guys across all frequencies.

oh id love to try out a 5th avenue! eventually i plan on installing a pickup to meet my electric needs.

any suggestions on mid-priced "bang for the buck" acoustic pups?

Godin and its various sub-brands are all excellent guitars. A good friend of mine worked for them for a few years, she could have gotten me some of their gear for cheapz but unfortunately for me I find all of their electrics to be hideously ugly.
