zOMG! I am incredulous. It is remarkable. The wiring and pots inside are intact. Even the mutes do whatever the hell they do. WOW. I will post photos in and out. It is both terrifying and not, like transatlantic flight.
The refin looks old and was a pro job--but it's sparkle black. I don't think I could match it. It's got this gold plate on it from the (late) luthier, a guy named Don Banzer. He seems to have some online props. The abalone isn't heinous, but it doesn't belong there. It will take some figuring to replace the missing body part. I already know how I plan to form the horn, but not how to affix it. I am going take my time. I want the fixes to be right. Holy shit.
Look at this weirdness. The fader switch in the lower bout was replaced with another JACK. WTF? Are two jacks not enough?!?!? The white in the neck hole is the only visible spot of original paint. And yes, it even has the pick guard bracket on there. You can kind of see the mutes sticking up under the bridge pup hole. Those knobs push them up to dampen the strings. I changed my tune about not wanting two jacks in the bottom. The dual jack plate is still there (with the serial number).

Good news: found a NECK. The blank I bought was the wrong dimensions, and this was easier.
Bad news: I don't have the heart to hack it into a WF shape. Also, because of the coloring on this one, I am leaning back toward black. I am planning to paint over that tiger stripey headstock.

This is what was troubling me, that even if I added horns, the headstock wouldn't be the right size. Then I realized two things:
1. These pictures are of modern copies. The originals were smaller. And I don't even fucking know what model that Electromatic is.
2. Separately, I have two guitar parts that are rubbish on their own. If I merely glue them together, they are just some guitar. If I add the horns, they become GLORIOUS. I am going to do it. I have almost all the parts now, and know where to get the gold glitter material. The only question now is whether to go WHITE or off white.
OBSERVE: These colors are all in nitro aerosols. The company makes them for furniture restoration and it goes on pretty wet, but makes a killer coat. Would it kill them to have a color chart?
I think it's between antique and high gloss because the rest are GHEY.

Naturally I will pore over early models to match the profile. Cut the top off, add horns, rout for binding, white paint, amber over the letters. Too bad the steer horns don't point up like devil horns. Maybe I will leave that uncovered and coat it in clears.
