I've wanted a Tele for a really long time now. They've always been one of my favorite guitars. Have owned a really crappy Squier that played okay, but sounded like crap.
But now I may be trading this
For this
Right now, I'm working the trade. He hasn't officially said yes but he's been thinking about it and I think I sold him on it. The tele is a 52 American RI. Plastic is still on all of the parts, a long with all the goodies it comes with new. The guitar has never left his house or been gigged with. Looks brand new.
I guess the reason why I posted this is just general feedback. I like short scale guitars but right now this is my only half-way decent guitar and really need a functional guitar.
Would you be willing to let go of your last short scale for a guitar you've wanted for years? (I guess this doesn't really apply if the guitar you want is a short scale.)
The AV '52 Tele is worth a lot. Fender have kept charging more and more for them in the past decade and people's used ones that they paid $900 for in the early 00's that are in good nick are going for $1200-$1500 on ebay now. It has all the case candy (50s style strap and cable, swingtags, bumper sticker and even the case's warning tag, which tells you to leave the guitar in the case for 24 hours in it's new home to prevent damaging the nitro with drastic temperature shifts... It'll also come with a schematic and possibly a capacitor for updating the wiring to the modern neck-both-bridge style) it's been well looked after, he could easily sell it and buy a Mustang with a bridge on it (providing that's the current condition of the Mustang in the photo you posted). So he may want money too. But who knows, you may luck out here. The stang also has a lot of non-original parts it looks like? Definitely a win for you if it's a straight trade, in my opinion.

Yes. Definitely a win for me if he does do it. This is a 2008 model, I believe. It very well could be older, that is just when he bought.
I would offer him so money with the trade if I could, but if I could then I would have a tremolo on it. If he doesn't want to trade I'm going to have to do some minor routing to the body to get the hard-tail to fit. I'm not a huge fan of drilling into the body when you're in college and don't expect to have any free money for three months, what are you going to do?
Just hope a guy with a nice guitar wants to trade.
