Just bought a 66 Jag.

Post by Richard »

I left my house at 10 am this morning to go to Winchester, VA to pick this up and just got back home. HOLY SHIT. The guy I bought it from let me play his 58 Strat, 61 Jazzmaster, 65 Strat, 2 50s ES-175s, and his bicentennial Firebird and had tons of other vintage stuff. Lots of old Fender amps too. I never thought I'd see so much awesome stuff in one place, and am astounded that I was allowed to touch whatever I wanted. Seriously fucking amazing. Anyway, here's my new 66 Jag. Two slider switches have been replaced but other than that it's all original. <3

very nice. the shortscale '66 jag club is steadily growing!

how was the '58 strat? I've always wanted to play a '50s one just to see how they live up to the hype.
cogito ergo sum...thing or other...

Thanks guys.

I played around with the 58 for a few minutes but I didn't plug it in. I was a little scared of it. It was a really worn in sunburst and felt awesome. The nitro on the neck was heavily checked and flaking off in a lot of spots. It was amazing(not $28,000 amazing) but I honestly liked the 65 better, if only for aesthetic reasons. I prefer rosewood fretboards.

That thing is Hot To Trot.

Congratulations mate. I love the B&B look, and the crazed headstock checking is lovely. It looks remarkably clean.

Cheers. I really love it but it's almost too clean for me. I'll take care of it like everything else I have but it's not getting special treatment. In a way I feel like it would have been better to get something a little more beat or slightly less original.

great price! that's what the avri's retail for now, so it's incredible you got a 44yo one for that. . . and in such excellent shape, too.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. To the people who said the headstock looked good, the back looks awesome too. The body is all checked as well but it's harder to photograph. You can see it a little in the second pic below. The other two pics are just because I liked them.

+1, and nice avatar. I was never a Jag fan but the only one I had before this was a CIJ reissue that needed a refret. I guess I shouldn't have discounted them because of that one example, turns out I fucking LOVE Jags. Definitely like this better than anything else I've owned.
