rockbox boiling point

Post by SpaceFace »

Anyone try one of these yet? I heard some clips on the internet and it sounds good but everyone I know and every place I see advertising it is going fucking nuts over it. I was just curious to know if anyone has tried it and can confirm it its justified paying the crazy prices for it.

It's silly expensive.

And it's just an overdrive. So I'm just not really all that interested.

If you can buy a Tube Amp for that, it's far too sodding much. It costs more than a bloody Tiny Terror.

Yeah thats what I figured. I mean I will say it does sound good in the clips I heard but to my ears I didnt hear anything worth nearly 400 dollars for. My friend was telling me about it and he is all excited over it just like he was over the analogman king of tone when he got that (another pedal to me which I think is far too pricey for what it is).

Analogman King Of Tone = Two Marshall BB-1 Bluesbreakers in a Box. Sorry, it's been proven.

Guitar pedals should not cost the Earth, if someone is charging that much, chances are they are taking the piss.

Bear in mind when you're hearing clips of it sounds great, you're also hearing kick ass guitars and kick ass amps. Sometimes the amp will already be breaking up. It's Overdrive, it ain't worth £350. You can buy a JCM800 combo for that much over here second hand - and it'll sure sound better.

Are you guys referring to that video where the kid gets the k.o.t. in the mail and then demos it and he has all top notch shit? If so then yeah I think he took that video off the internet. On a side note what are your opinions on the wampler ecstasy drive? I know Mike has expressed great appreciation for the pedal maker but was curious to know your thoughts on that pedal. I just recently came into some cash and have been shopping around for a nice bluesy sounding mid gain overdrive pedal and am having a hard time deciding between the wampler ecstasy and the dirty little secret, and unfortunately there are no stores around me that I could go to and try them out for myself.
