FINALLY got around to finishing this. Pics to come tomorrow. Gifting to my friend on Saturday. I went with a slightly darker blue (almost LPB) to offset the ugly a bit. It's still atrocious.
Project for a friend

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND, after rocking out with it for an hour, here it is. I've already scraped up the pickguard for that pre-worn in feel.
It's sorta hard to see, but the paint is metallic almost LPBish.
Comparison to Reece's shoop.

WHOA!
That came out really nice!
How would you say the quality is of the guitar, comparable to Epiphone I'm guessing? I imagine they are made in the same factory as Epiphone, but these tend to cost less to buy new for whatever reason. Plus I noticed the Maestro seems to have a true Gibson headstock shape. I've been tempted to get one like this and transform it into a "proper" junior with a P90 pickup.

Comparable to an Epi Les Paul special. Cheapo hardware, decent electronics. Body wood seems to be decent quality. Tuners stay in tune and the action is a bit high for me but very playable. The neck is lovely actually. For what I see these go for second hand, it's a great starting point for a proper LP Jr. project.

I didn't actually. I actually really liked the look of it as bare wood. Looks great with the LPB paint job.hotrodperlmutter wrote:that looks great dude. did you paint the neck?
love the neck though, indeed.

Funny story, I put a bridge Loud Mouth in it at first... but didn't like the super power sound from it. So I put a neck Loud Mouth in instead and I really like the way it sounds. You can get some good diversity out of it now by splitting the bucker (the tone is actually a spin-a-split) and rolling off the volume a bit. Goes almost stratish.
