My dad is looking to maybe buy a beater strat style guitar. He stumbled upon the Squier II Korean Series from the 80's. Reviews are varied and it seems rather....unremarkable, but its cheaper and supposed to be on par with the 80's Jap Squiers! Ebay prices are just breaking $200.
My main question is if anyone has any experience with these guitars. And how they stack up against the CV Strat i've been pushing him to consider. (He's rather anti-Modern Squier).
Any info is appreciated!!

The CV Strat is a mighty fine guitar. I've no experience with the Squier II so I'm not sure how useful my opinion is. But I'd 100% go for a CV if I had any interest at all in a strat.

I was less than impressed with the CV duo I played, both of the CV strats at Bill's Music House were FUCKING LUSH though. They looked great, they felt great and they sounded great.clarkbar wrote:unfortunately the nearest guitar center only has the CV DuoSonic in the store. I combed ALL over to try to find one. (trust me I wanted to play one myself!!) Hopefully Pittsburgh has a couple

I have a '90 Squier II HSS Stratocaster in excellent condition and it's fantastic. Often overlooked highly underrated. See my posts and pics at Squier-talk.com and Fender.com where there are threads concerning it's construction. If you have the chance buy one, you'll find it'll be treasured and NOT considered a "beater". Pics are posted

edit 2 - Found another under my old screen name, Blackheartsfan at the Squier '51 site.

edit 3 - And another including info and pics of my Squier II
Players are finally starting to recognize the Squier II's for what they are, SUPERIOR in tone and craftsmanship.

edit 5 - Here's a pic of my '90 which has the "laminated hardwood" body. The 'laminated hardwood" body type offers unending sustain, is noticieably heavier then itss "solid body" (three piece) counterparts and I believe offers superior tone as well.
