So as I was flipping through Fender's NAMM catalog I noticed a picture of a Jacqui Valentine playing a sweet customized mustang bass. All black w/ a matching headstock (dead sexy) with...an emg? I'll admit, I'm very intrigued. I can't remember ever seeing that mod. What do you guys think?

hate the outfits love the bass but the emg seems so out of place, putting an emg in a mustang bass is so contradictory, it's like drinking beer from a wineglass.
i saw these guys play a while ago; they opened for H2O and Dropkick Murphys.
i was wondering the same thing; though, i thought it was just a modified MM bass.
that being said, i didnt think they were all that good... they were terribly EQ'd, and i guess im not into their style. they were good looking though.

i had a small conversation with her about the bass, it was built by the fender custom chop for her, they have a fender sponsorship
one of the guitarists plays a left handed white falcon.
but that bass is so drop dead sexy, and despite the fact the venue was total shit, it sounded amazing (could possibly have something to do with her being a talented bass player though)
the pickup she is using is very sweet pickup for sure for a mustang bass....
It is a P-Style Pickup in a guitar humbucking housing. It has exactly the same features and specifications as the current P model. It is recommended for bass guitars with a string width of less than 2 inches.
heres a link to it, Alex Perez of the custom shop put it in... the bass is a stock Japanese Mustang bass that was painted at the the custom shop and routed for that pickup... heres the pickup at emg...
