Hi all,
My GF's mum just got a new Taylor and wants to sell on her old Takamine ean10c. She was asking £500 for it but I can have it for £400. I've seen a couple listed on gumtree for slightly more than this second hand.
Just from googling it, new these go for about £800 but hers is an 80s version (allegedly nicer).
I am sorely tempted as it is an absolute stunner to play but I wanted a second opinion before parting with the cash. I'm sure she wouldn't intentionally rip me off btw.
Takamine ean10c- good price?

I know over here they go for about 1000-1100 new (although they may have been discontinued) and I see them for about 7-800 used when they come up. They are amazing guitars. Just make sure you check it over really closely as they are very thin skinned and scratch up and beat up easily.
Not sure of exchange rate and availability of them over there.

They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...
That sounds like you should go for it if it's the sort of thing you like. A little under the second hand value is a fair deal for you both as it saves her the hassle of selling it to the proles and you're paying less than you would elsewhere. You're also familiar with the guitar and in a good position to thoroughly check it over.
400 notes on something just because it's a good deal isn't going to turn into a good deal in the long run, but if you'd like a nice acoustic that will last you quite a while and you have the funds I see no reason not to.
Or in the words of our American friends - dew it.
