they didn't need to call an expert to appraise this one I guess. I wonder if if they filmed an episode where the guy comes in claiming it is a rare Vox guitar possibly owned by Brian Jones?

Love the show! Chum is a retart.

Recall that episode, where a guy bringing in a 60's Les Paul, only to find out it was a 70's model.... or this week a guy traded a 300 year ol' gun for a 73 Les Paul in perfect shape.

The guy who brought in the Black Les Paul Custom is Rod Miller. He is a luthier and guitar tech at Cowtown Guitars in Las Vegas

Here is the other Les Paul that the other guy traded his 1750 Coach gun for. Rick said he had it in his office but it was also on

Oh,and the "expert" that Rick called in to appraise "Rod's 1960 Les Paul Custom" ? His name is Jesse Amoroso, he also works at Cowtown Guitars.

So in other words one guy brings in a guitar from his store to sell to the pawn shop and they call in an expert that works at the same store to appraise the guitar for him. Rick doesn't buy the guitar but it makes for a nice infomercial for Cowtown Guitars which says on it's webpage:

Actually I suspect that alot of the experts they bring in for appraisals actually own the stuff they are appraising

One more thing - that gas pump you restored for the Pawn Stars...funny, the man that sold that pump to you years ago is a friend of mine! (Small world, right?) Anyway, he was watching the show with his wife, and - in his words - he almost fell out of his chair when he saw that pump. His wife actually recognized it! I mean, what are the odds that a pump you bought got sold unrestored to someone, who just happened to bring it into that Pawn Shop - only for them to buy it and return it to you for restoration? They'd have to be astronomical!

If I didn't know better, I'd almost think the people bringing stuff into that cool pawn shop were bringing your stuff in there and just acting like it was their stuff. What a set-up that would be! The guys filming the show would get a plot, and you'd get a 30-minute commercial for your business on the History Channel. Heck, you could get your employees or friends to play the part of the 'seller' at the pawn shop - and you wouldn't even have to pay an actor!

But, hey - that would all be a big fraud, wouldn't it?"

Most of the dialogue on that show seems scripted anyway.

some strange things.
Media lying, nothing new.

But that email from the vending machine-gas pump guy,that was greatly written.
Interesting did he get a reply.

Wow! Can't believe all that stuff. I'm not surpised, but it's still a funny show to watch. A mix between reality Tv & Antique road show.

The gas pump restorer guy also restored a mini bike.... frame rotted out and broken, motor shot... wonder what the "real" story behind that is.

I'm sure the whole thing is just set up by the producers of the show. the "rick" dude is just playing a part as much as anyone else.
