had the picture for aages, it's one of my dreamguitars that i will probably never own, probably never even will come across irl...maybe if i make it to ochanomizu i might be lucky to spot one, no idea for how long they were made and how many or anything.
The only time I've ever seen one is in that same picture you posted. It's from the site with lots of similar pictures of oddball vintage guitars in a grid?
yeah, i haven't seen it anywhere else either. the control plate looks scruffy, especially with the square thing on it that seems totally out of place in color and shape, but this is still the cutest guitar i've ever seen and am so curious to find out how it feels and sounds it sucks they're so rare. there's another teisco on that site that is also labeled as ET but looks like..ET, so i'm not even sure of this was really a model on its own or a one off or something. teisco's take on coronados i guess.
and what the fuck, is it silvertone or teisco ? or both ?
The 1418 was one of the first guitars to 'hit the beach' in preparation of the Fall 1968 Japanese Invasion of the electric guitar portion of the Sears catalog. Based on the Teisco EP-2L, which was itself kinda ES-335ish, it was the predecessor to the much longer-lived (and far more common) Silvertone 1455 (see last picture in gallery for comparisons to both).
silvertone is just the sears department store brand. sears contracted a lot of companies to make the guitars for them like danelectro, valco and teisco. I've seen a lot of these on eBay branded as silvertones. they usually go for around $150.

The original one you posted was deffinately a teisco. I'm pretty sure its the EP-2L but with block inlays for some reason. That silvertone is just a very similar copy...
seems like the silvertones (especially the last version they did) has a bigger body or something ? it doesn't look as tiny as the teisco. i also prefer the binding on the one in the picture i posted first, the ones i find on google are usually sunburst and no binding.
