my endless bridges problem+(

Post by winterfrost »

First problem were with my cij jaguar mustang bridge - screws twist inside during my playing, I try all that you guys advised me (change it, waxing screws)
but but the problem is not resolved+( now I'm metal foil by putting it under the bridge
it's ok now, but that's not normal+(

Now i got avri jazzmaster with shitty stock bridge ( I will buy mustang bridge in couple of weeks) and problem is - saddles screws untwist+(( but for now it doesn't affect on tune
what am I doing wrong? may be I push to hard on right hand on bridge while playing? but I fill its not
please help me with advice

LOCTITE SUPERGLUE
You are now in the category of Extreme Cases along with Pens. Set everything where you want it and apply a small amount of glue to each problematic screw, let everything set.

Normally i would'nt advise this but other than tell you to buy a Les Paul i dunno what else to say.

well, wait it out, i'd say mustang bridge or TOM is the way to go.
my buddy tyler (ty on here) has a TOM on his jazzmaster. works good.

no, just from playing the screws come out. just either glue it like fran said, or get the mustang bridge.

Have you trued putting PTFE (plumbers) teflon tape on the bridge post screws? There is no way hand pressure will push the bridge down, vibration will loosen the screws though if they are a loose fit.
Glue is a last resort.

It looks like this:

Plumbers use it like this:

You should be able to buy it from DIY Stores, Builders merchants, Screwfix direct, Plumbers suppliers/merchants.. Its cheap too.

If you cant find any i'll send you some over.

Trem?
To stop the arm falling out i presume? Be better off taking the whole thing off and tightening the collet underneath, PTFE tape wont last 5 minutes on the arm.

no, the classic player trem arm.
just big enough to stay in
too loose to stay in place.
but the tape just solved my problem! thanks fran!

my final action on a Mustang bridge was to wrap one layer of sewing cotton around the screw (that was already waxed). That killed its wishes to move on itself, but it's still adjustable (needs a little more force than before).
