Discovery of the decade?

Post by tomin8r »

Right, well this is probably(very likely) in the wrong section but here goes.

I was cruising the dreaded offsetguitars site, and they had a topic about this

Hockey Stick 12 string neck

Enjoy.

Since my tele custom copy has both a shitty neck AND a dual-load bridge (can be toploader or string-through) I've often thought about getting a 12-string neck and set of threaded saddles... super simple conversion.

The decade? Maybe the past fortnight.

I'm surprised it's taking this long for the custom builders to make one of these, though. People have been making projects from old acoustic necks for a few years now.

I know USACG does a fairly accurate XII, pretty cool that warmoth is making the necks too, should be cool to see all of the projects pop up at offset.

Huh. Looks like they've introduced a Jazzmaster Neck as well, with a neat superimposed line drawing of a strat and CBS headstock.

Also for insane-insane money it looks like they'll do up any custom neck you'd want. I can't remember who was looking for a custom headstock-builder but it looks like they'll do one for $45.

I won't be ordering one ever, but it's good to see that they're adding more options.

Hmmm......that's pretty awesome. If I'm ever in the mood for a custom maybe I'll pick up one of those GFS Tele-masters and convert it with one of these...

yeah they make the jazzmaster headstock but it has 22 frets and they do a gibson style block inlay which looks wrong. Who cares about the HEADSTOCK SHAPE its a minute difference. Guitar Mill makes the closest aftermarket jazzmaster neck with PROPER BLOCKS

They do a 21 fret neck that comes standard with a 7.25" radius (here) for cheaper than guitar mill but that's still without the proper blocks.

e: Without blocks altogether, actually.
