I know a bunch of you guys love that mental pedal James bought. Looks like thereis a cut down version now:

WMD Geiger Counter- Civilian Issue

WMD Devices offers the brand new, stripped down version of the infamous Geiger Counter. Simplified and smaller but not lacking in total destruction. This new edition to the WMD line of pedals sports 16 presets, Gain and Tone control, and a sleek new design. On this pedal the Tone controls a lot more than you may be used to. The Tone also controls some of the distortion and destruction sounds! Get classic distortion, original Geiger Counter destruction or even some not so traditional fuzz sounds from this amazing little box.

The Function Knob is the key. Twisting this knob will cause the number in the display window to change. This selects the algorithm what will begin annihilating your signal. The functions are designated 0-9 and A-F for a total of 16 functions. Additionally, pushing the Function knob down will activate Lo-Fi mode, which is dirtier and nastier than standard mode.

Overall, the Geiger Counter Civilian Issue has a smaller learning curve than the original Geiger Counter, but not smaller sound. This is one awesome guitar effect pedal.

Well, I went ahead and ordered one of these just a few minutes ago. After the honeymoon is over, I'll try and put together a review.

I really wanted the OG like James, but based on what I've heard in the clips and reviews, I think this one will be plenty of nastiness and not worth the extra hundred clams. I'm excited to try things that are not guitars through it as well.

It arrived earlier, but I don't have anything to try it with here at work. I took some gutshots, but there's nothing remarkable other than the build quality is excellent -- Neutrik jacks, clean wiring and joints, etc.

Manual excerpt: "Volume - This knob controls the overall output volume of the GCCI. Use with caution, as the maximum volume can be incredibly loud and awesome."

Not that I can see. I didn't pull the board all the way out, as the knobs are holding it on and I just had a minute after lunch.

Maybe there's some magic on the other side that's gooped, but I didn't have time to check. I will tonight.

After seeing your shots of the daddy, it's pretty sparse in there.

Quick update: I'm not totally sold on this guy yet. I haven't had time to dick around with it too much, but because I have nothing even remotely similar in my current setup, it's a lot of fun. With the mini one I have at $200 USD and the big guy that James has at $300, I feel like there's a definitely a lot more to be had for that $100 -- but then we're talking about $300 for an interesting digital bitcrusher. At that price, I could assemble a fully-functional computer with a VST host and a free plugin to achieve a similar effect.

No way. From the demos I've seen, your TGD has at least 237 coupletoans (using SI units) more on tap. This thing is also extremely digitally noisy, as should be expected -- and not in a terribly traditionally musical way, for whatever that's worth. My setup is also pretty similar to yours. I have a '73 Vibrosonic Reverb, which is the same chassis as a Twin, but with a single 15" instead of 2x12". I believe it's also the same chassis as the Super, Dual Showman, Super Six, and Quad from the similar early Silverface era, differing only in speaker configuration and output tranny, according to the schematic I have.

Mine isn't except where it's supposed to be. Like if you run it with a low sample rate you get a lot of digital artifacts. It's the sort of thing where it isn't necessary to use to get a certain sound, it just adds does whatever sound you have dialed in with a low sample rate. In terms of the normal signal to noise ratio it's very good.
