Pedal Recommendations

I'm looking at a few pedals and I just wanted people's opinions on them.

EHX Memory Boy-I'm a little concerned. I've heard of volume drops with this, but otherwise it seems perfect especially considering the price

Modtone Tremor-I've heard good things about Modtone, and other pedals seem WAY too expensive for a simple tremolo.

Digitech Hardwire Stereo Chorus-I really would like an analogman chorus, but it's too expensive. This pedal (or what's showcased on Proguitarshop.com) seems to fit what I want in a chorus. I'm just a little concerned that it won't sound "organic". For example, when I play my guitar clean, then put on a Boss overdrive, it sounds decent and all, but it just doesn't sound natural...hopefully someone knows what I mean.

Anyways, can someone give me their experiences with these pedals...or even just the companies that make them. Thanks a lot guys! Other suggestions are welcomed!

I haven't had any problems with the memory boy volume drop. I'd go for it. Fantastic delay for the dough.

the memory boy i had actually had a volume BOOST, delay time is a little iffy as far as consistency goes but i got over it eventually. it has some great modulation and is killer for the price.

hardwire stuff is great, the chorus is pretty good from the clips i've heard. I have the hardwire reverb and the sound quality is phenomenal, i imagine the chorus would be too

My advice is to be wary of the Digitech Hardwire stuff. I bought the Reverb and when it arrived it didn't work. I got another, used it for a while, sold it on ebay but when it arrived the guy also said it didn't work. My conclusion is that the build quality isn't that good so can get damaged quite easily, however that is only a conclusion I have come to from my experiences - I may just have had a couple of iffy pedals and their others may be ok.

If anyone reckons they can fix this pedal for me let me know, the guy that bought it says that there is a problem with teh selctor for different types of reverb in that the only type available is spring - however i'll know more when I get it back.

I would say the hardwire is one of my best constructed pedals (along with my TC!). The only problem I see with it is the switch, the stomp button has a shaft that presses a tiny rubber button on the pcb and it's only a matter of time before it gives in. I'm sure yours was just an unfortunate lemon and digitech would gladly repair/replace for you if you go through the warranty process

Thanks for the advice. It's 2 of these pedals i've had which have had problems, once I get it back i'll contact Digitech but I think i've had it over a u=year so they may not be that helpful and i may have to pay for it to be repaired.

I agree re the footswitch though, it seemed that when I had the peadl on my board you had to fit the footswitch just right in oredr for it to engage properly which is just annoying.

Mojo? They're supposed to be the same circuit but Ive noticed a bit of a difference but that was through a good recording and ne headphones. In person/live it isn't anything to worry about trust me.

There is a lot of muffs out there, it all depends on what you're looking for. Mike can make a sovtek green muff as well as an IC muss and I'm sure several more. Tim makes a great green muff too!

My personal favourite muff is the Stomp Under Foot violet triangle muff. Check out there website they offer all of the popular muff variations.

You should also consider the Tone Wicker too, lots of versatility.

The Danelectro Cool Cat tremolo is very good and very cheap. I'm sure the modtone is great, but I don't know that it would have any extra functionality.

I don't think any chorus really sounds natural. At least the digitech gives you a lot of choices.

+1 on the MBM pedals. I love the fuzzface and saltbooster I own. If you want an "organic" chorus, you can't beat the EHX Small Clone Chorus. You can buy them or have Mike make you one with an adjustable Depth.

I realy like my new kurt cobain edition ds-1 it rocks on bass and guitar

It is realy versetile and it has everything from rich overdrive to heavy crunch and it is realy cheap.

This is an awesome choice for an analog delay. Although the craziness that can come from this memory boy I got from Haze is a lot cooler for having weird sound artifcats in your delay and very computer like noises when the Feedback is set to 100%
