Which Dano mini pedals are based on other designs?

Post by ekwatts »

So far I have:

French Toast fuzz
Milkshake Chorus
Grilled Cheese distortion
Pastrami overdrive
Bacon 'n' Eggs mini-amp/distortion
Peanut Butter 'n' Jelly delay

I know the French Toast is based on the Foxx pedal, but what about the others? Any famous lineage?

Not exactly familiar with the names but the vibe is a Uni Vibe knock off

the ones I know about are the cool cat series where they had to bring out version 2's recently. the version ones are apparently:

TOD === Timmy
Drive === OCD vrs 2
Fuzz === Peach fuzz

I think on money spent on dano vs booteeq its a ratio of 1:4

Not sure about the non cool cat pedals but for value for money they are brilliant (except the exploitation of repressed workers. I wouldn't be suprised that more of their pedals were clones of other popular pedals though. Any search in google will through up enough discussions and conspirency theories to male up a good evenings reading.

I think its a DOD 250 clone. Not 100% sure though but they both sound very alike.

He asked about dano minis.

Everyone knows about the cool cats and it's been discussed to death.

I'm talking about these:

Not the Cool Cats.

The Pastrami is quite good, it's got a really nice fuzzy sound when turned up.

Eh, they are both univibe clones however you slice it. Except the cool cat is made of metals and other true bypassing things.

Is the tremolo an "original" circuit or is it an EA clone of some sorts?

I think the graphic EQ is a clone of the boss with the "sniper" mod. doog posted something along those lines a while back.

haze is this the one you're talking about?

it definitely is a univibe style pedal. I had one and sold it to pat. I'm not sure if it's an exact clone of anything however.

EA Trem is transistor based, and the Dano is optical with an LED. Not sure if it's a direct clone of anything. I know the Dano is a bit more "on-off" than the EA, which is more subtle.

The pastrami is similar to the DOD250, but uses LEDs instead of regular silicon diodes.

I think the Surf and Turf is a Ross comp clone.

Is the Pastrami overdrive closer to a MXR Distortion+ or DOD 250? I read somewhere the MXR and DOD are related.

Slightly OT, but the BYOC kits for the Distortion+ and the DOD are one the same board with, I think, two different components.

I think it's just an input/output cap difference.

I have the Fab Echo, Chorus and just added a like new Dan'O Wah and love them all. Great "bang for the buck" they just need to be treated properly and NOT "STOMPED" on or abused.
