Japanese Jaquar Schematic? Anyone? ....anyone?

Post by darthfleckner »

so.... I swear I've dug around all over the place, this forum, the fender website, the google machine; and nowhere can I find a schematic for the electronics on these Japanese Jaguars!

Anyone have one floating around? Or at the very least can someone tell me what the hell the three switches do when wired in this humbucker configuration? I don't mean to sound completely idiotic or inept, but they just seem to be treble/bass boosters. My guitar has hiss no matter what, so I figuered they weren't coil tap...

anyways, thanks for the help in advance! And here's a pic of my guitar, though I have to admit its put to shame by some of the beautiful jags up here!

The Jaguar Special is wired the same as the traditional jaguar schematic. The bottom three twitches turn the neck pick off/on, bridge pickup off/on and a bass cut switch. The upper switch, when down, the three bottom switches are angaged as well as the bottom volume and tone knobs. Then in the up position the neck pickup alone is on and volume and tone are controlled via the two roller pots.
Hope this helped, take a look at our wiki page too. There is a link at the top of the page labeled "Wiki" We've collected tons of information on jags and wiring diagrams to boot

this should be all you need, dude. my hh is cij, and i used that diagram when i swapped out the dragsters in favor of p90's. worked perfectly in conjunction with the diagram that came with the pickups.

thanks for all that quick and helpful info!

I was suspecting that my gee-tar wasnt stock, I bought it used so someone had tampered with the wiring. I'll be re-wiring it back to stock this weekend.

Also, any recomendations for a change out in pickups? I actually really like the humbucker-jaguar combo, but I'm thinking maybe p-90's, or perhaps some coil tappable Seymour Duncans?

I've been considering new pickups for my hh jag as I'm not terribly fond of the dragster humbuckers. I've considered fender WRHBs but the RIs sound arse to my ears. Then I considered gettig some and having Novak convert them to vintage spec, then considered just getting his humbucker sized WRHB he makes as it would be the same thing just wouldn't look as cool. Now that you've said p90s I'm thinking about a set of P-Rails!
I'd have to work out a schematic using a 3 way sliders or something to get max potentials. Maybe replace the roller pots with 3-way coil selectors and the rythm switch be a kill switch or phase reversal. Damn p-rails..

This schematic is incorrect/incomplete and if wired like this your jag will not work!

You need to add a 56k 1/4watt resistor from lug 2 to 3 on the lead tone pot to complete this schematic.

Also the capacitor in the rhythm circuit is .01uF not .1uF, another inaccuracy.

BTW, I think I have the HB CIJ jag schem, I'll have a look. I know I have the MIM HB one.
