What are the 24" scale Fender/Squiers models since 1990

What are the Fender/Squier 24" scale models made guitars since 1990 ?

I'm the new owner of a recent production Squier Jagmaster 24" scale guitar, since incurring injuries to both my wrists (shattered) and both thumbs (dislocated) I find that my 25.5" scale Squier II Stratocaster and Fender Lead II require too much of a "stretch" for certain fingerings which I'm not capable of at this time.

I'm considering adding another 24" scale Fender/Squier which may be equipped with single coils though that is not necessary as I can always change the configuration. The "must" is that is be 24" scale any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you stuck on Fender/Squier? Rondo music has a number of 24" scale instruments that won't break the bank and are terrific instruments for the cash. Easily squier quality.

It has to be the 24" scale for now as the 24.75" (24 3/4") is too long betweens the fret wires. Tried some of the 24.75 and loved the style but was disappointed like the Toronado at the Totowa, N.J. GC which sold the next day.

Even found a Jagmaster in great condition at Richie's Music Cener in Rockaway Boro, N.J. for $199. I loved the color, Silver Sparkle, couldn't see getting ANOTHER 25.5 when I realized that I couldn't fret properly due to its'scale.

If we can just stick to 24" scale for now as some of the sites have errorenous info, they claim my Lead Series guitars are 24 3/4" (24.75) scale which they're NOT ! They are 25 1/2" (25.5) scale. This info gets repeated elsewhere that's why I came to this site as well as being a new Jagmaster owner.

Don't forget, the Supersonic has to be from the Vista Series. The later ones, are 25.5" scale instruments. If you can swing the cash, and want both worlds (HB and single coil in a guitar), the The Jaguar CP HH, may be for you. The switching is different than what's on my single coil '66 Reissue, in that instead of the strangle function (which cuts lows, making the sound pretty bright), you have coil splitting, for single coil sounds.

My sympathies about your hands. Your injuries suck much more, than when I broke my left wrist back in '84, and had a hell of a time trying to play the Squier Strat I had back then, while wearing a cast.

Because most of the other Vista stuff is mentioned here I'll add that the Venus is 25.5". I half expected it to be 24" just because of the other guitars it was released with.

Super sonic was only ever a 24". Are you think of the jagmaster?

Vista jagmaster - 24"
2nd revision - 25.5"
3rd revision - 24" conversion from 25.5"

I played a black, 6-string Venus at the local Music Go Round a few months ago. It was pretty cool, but the body seemed so dinky, compared to the 25.5" neck. I didn't like the way it balanced. It sounded pretty good though, in spite of the pickups being mildly microphonic at high gain. It was one of those "should I or shouldn't I buy it?" guitars that was always on my mind, whenever I stopped off at Music Go Round. If the price had been lower, I probably would have bought it (they wouldn't budge on its price).

What were they asking? I've been eyeing up a black one at the local mom and pop for about 4 years. Been on teh shelf since it's release and hey still want $350 for it.

A stroll down ebay shows them at 200-300.

I'd like one, but my interest would be more in the $150 range.

I've gotta remember - it was about 6 or 7 months ago at least. IIRC, 275 or $300. It needed work. The electronics were getting ratty, The tuners were sloppy, and the body was kind of beat up. It was also dirty. So, I thought it wasn't worth more than $200, due to the work I'd have to put into it.

Sometimes Music Go Round can be overpriced. Another local Music Go Round, was asking $350 for a 1998 Vista Jagmaster. I thought it was also an OK guitar, but like the Venus above, it too needed work. The electronics (pickup selector switch, and the volume pot), were starting to go. Also, one of the bridge saddles could have stood to be replaced. Ditto for one of the tuners. Also, like the Venus I mentioned, the pickups were a bit microphonic at high gain. IMO, the Vista Jagmaster was worth maybe $250 (mainly due to its coveted Vista Series status). Sometimes Music Go Round will dicker (especially if the guitar has been a dust collector, or they have an overstock on an item [I picked up a Crate, 120 watt GX1200H amp head for $70, last year, because they had several on-hand, that were just collecting dust]), but oftentimes they won't budge an inch on the price.

One thing you have to understand about a lot of the Vista series guitars, they seem to have been mainly owned by noobs, indie rockers, and punk rockers. Noobs have a tendencey to beat up guitars. Some indie and punk rockers baby their gear, but a lot of them beat on them like cavemen. It almost seems like their mentality is, "so what!? It's just a guitar!" This mentality is magnified, when it's "just a cheap Squier." I've never understood that mindset. I'm not rich, and have had to work hard to come up with the cash, even for cheaper guitars. Mom & Dad never bought me a guitar, when I was young (I had to pay for them out of my own pocket, and listen to my parents complain about how I was wasting money, and "gee, what's wrong just keeping your old one [which was a hunk of junk]?"). So, even when I haven't liked guitars, I've still tried not to beat on them. After all, a beat up guitar sells for less than one in good shape.

I feel the same way about guitars, have earned the money to buy each and every one since I was 12 yrs old. Even paid for my own lessons. I find that those given things with no sacrifice in time or energy don't appreciate the effort involved neither in the work to earn the money for the purchase nor the time expended when shopping for an appropiate gift/model.

I see so many guitars listed on Craiglist & Ebay where after less than three lessons they just give up. That or the inevitable guitars that were treated like crap due to neglect or the desire to "age" it to look "cool".

We all know what those responsible for the destruction and abuse will be once grown in "size" (not maturity/brain capacity), a bunch of quitters and babies (whiners). These are the ones that expect everything to be handed to them "because" or "I want it".
