Lo-fi/GrizzlyBear-esque/Indie/Tappy/Bad junk

Post by MISSINGNO. »

I don't really know how many of you guys are into lo-fi and weird experimental stuff, but that's what I've been involving myself in lately.

I just put out this mini-album that's pretty cool--at least I think so, anyway.

Let me know what you think, if you want. If you don't, that's cool too.

Thanks guys! I'm really surprised you all dig it.

As for the glitchy warbly stuff, I'd have to know what track you meant in particular.

But a lot of the effects just came from recording from a single-track cassette recorder. When I would record the playback in my computer, I'd force the tray open, put my finger on the heads to slow them down and kind of make the sound warp.

That's exactly what I've wanted to hear, haha. My idea for all this stuff is sort of along the lines of what Brian Eno was trying to do by providing soundtracks to various situations and the like. I was just trying to make it happen with only one acoustic guitar.

I'm real glad you guys are enjoying it. The CD downloads free thanks to Mediafire. Click here to get it.

I've been listening to this all day from the download. I'm really into the lo-fi vibe.

Sorta bummed "my private rain" isn't on it, let us know when you (re)release that jam.

Unfortunately, that track died with my old computer. Along with all my programs for making music with accompaniment. That's the OTHER half of why there's only one track to each of the newer things.

Gotta work with what I'm given!

I hear you, man. What programs were you using? There is a way to download files off of myspace, but the quality gets shifted a little bit.

Well at the time I was using a combination of Garageband, Reason, Guitar Rig and Amplitube combined with all sorts of pedals and a Firewire interface.

And now I'm using...nothing!

For some reason some of these songs remind me of 'Phone Call' by John Brion from the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

I don't know if it was completely intentional but it sounds really nice!

That song was definitely an inspiration, as the first time I ever heard it--I was really amazed.

I did some research, though, on how he accomplished that sound and couldn't find much about it. I think I got kind of close? But that wasn't the entire idea.

Ha, I've just checked back here now and realised that that video has loads of shots of Newcastle in it. That really wasn't my intention when
looking for a video to that song! How bizarre :?

Anyway, I'm sure there's probably someone on here who can point you in the right direction as to how you might achieve that sound
when recording the guitar. It does sound lovely though. There's some lovely snippets of music from that Soundtrack and they all work brilliantly
well in the film.

Ahh, yeah, probably.

But I'm not looking to do that same thing, so much. But yeah, I definitely enjoy that soundtrack.

Nah, that's fair enough. Sorry, I kind of thought 'he probably isn't after just copying the exact same sound!' just after I posted that last comment!

Keep up the good work regardless!

Hey there. I didn't have this track for the longest time because the computer it was made on died a while back. Thankfully, I knew a friend of mine that had it and asked him to upload for me.

So you can download it here.
