i love just the acoustic ones mostly (i'd murder for a white one like lou diamond philips played), but the neck pup ones are fucking dope too.

I've only ever found a couple of old Harmony guitars at pawnshops or music stores. Most of them have been in pretty poor shape playing wise, it seems like they all need neck resets etc.

Have I just been unlucky or do they usually play ok?

my friend has one of those harmony archtops with a dearmond pickup in the neck position. it sounds really cool, but the neck is so warped it's unplayable past maybe the 5th fret.
never buy one of these things without having tried it first. they can be cool-sounding old guitars, but quality-wise, you're much better off with a modern chinese or korean made archtop. unless you just wanna play slide.

you can really play the shit out of those guitars, without fearing for their value...
