Just sold the 63 Ric (within hours of BIN). Cashflow situation much better--due to White Falcon obsession. I either had it priced right or too low. We will never know. It was cost of parts with free labor. Lots of fucking labor.

I managed to land this busted up 1950s Fender Champ lap steel for $75. Nutty, huh? I am dying to get it fixed so I can hear it. The fretboard is painted steel with no actual frets or anything. The pickup area was corn-holed. I don't know how that even happens. The neck has a hefty crack but I am not worried in the least. Am tempted to spray Tele copper.

Finally figured out a fix for the XII bridge. I just couldn't get it to work without the missing bridge piece. It lacks the glory of the 12 saddles, but it's purely cosmetic and could be reversed in minutes. What it really needs is the part that holds the saddles together. Mine looked right and fit, but I could only get 11 saddles in it. You would THINK that would work and just double up on one shitty string, but it was too awkward. And frankly, those rusty old saddles are a bit of a bitch to adjust. Love or hate it, the TOM is practical.

Once I put in the TOM, I tested it, and my neck pup wasn't working. I took it apart and tested it and it was fine. Turns out when I screw down the guard, something is touching because the 3-way switch is too tall. I may just have to bite the $60 bullet and buy the NOS switch from Angela. Not only is it a guaranteed fit, but I could then use that giganto chicken head switch. I was considering painting over the white, but am now thinking I could be happy with tinted white layers. That would also be a quick remedy, since it wouldn't require a six week dry time.

The Ric sold very quickly and is on its way to Chicago.

The Jazzmaster Strat that Robert, Cowbell and I built (I asked both of them before I listed it) got this as a sample of the questions I have been asked. I guess I should have anticipated it for a custom mystery model, but I don't think I have ever had this many questions from people. I also think $600 is pretty reasonable, since it just covers materials.
Hello, What is the contour of the neck? The board radius & the nut width? What fret size and any fretwear?...any area of buzzing or area of fret-outs when doing heavy bends? Is this a mahogany board? How much does this weigh? Is there a case? Who put this guitar together? Any functional downsides issues? Is the tremolo arm part of the auction and/or anything else included besides the guitar? Can you send 3 photos?...one of the nut including a few frets and one of the last few frets and a third of the bridge. All 3 to be taken close-up with the camera lens looking down between the D&G strings. It would be great to see these 3. If not posting to the auction, you may send the photos directly to…

Have you ever been under the influence of alcohol while holding this instrument? If so, could I get 3 pictures of the container that the alcohol was in? A top view, a side view from the middle of the label looking toward the top and a closeup picture of the warning on the side.

Not sure I would want someone like that as a winning bidder.
