GOT EM FIESTA RED JAG!!! PHOTZ VIDZ PG 5

Post by robroe »

My shop on Grand Island has a OTM jag for 1600 bucks. I am contemplating on trading in all my guitars for it. thoughts?

also: the high e string on it buzzes like a son of a bitch. can that be fixed pretty easy without jacking up the bridge or just putting big ass strings on it?

$1600 is way too much for a used AVRI. You can get them for around $1000 on ebay pretty regularly. Sell some of your guitars and buy one if you want one, you'd surely get FUCKED on a trade in.

Here's another option, if you can settle for used, it's $1200.

I had some roundwound .011s on my Jaguar and had the same problem with the high E. So i slapped some flatwound .012s onnit and theres no more buzz.

VERY nice. But I say get the one for $1200, and save yourself some coin. And yes, some heavier gauge strings might raise the action high enough, from the change in the way the strings sit in the threaded saddles, to eliminate the buzz.

Oh wow, I just assumed it was used because that color has been discontinued for a while. Now that I know it's new, IMO you would be much better off buying used. Like I said, it's not too hard to find one for around a grand on the 'bay. Shit, this white 2009 AVRI sold for $812 on Feb. 16.

If you were going to go for a new one you may as well put up another couple hundred bucks and get a vintage refin. The green 66 dots and binding refin that Bubbles_Horwitz owned is for sale again on offset for $1850 shipped.

i sold my otm jaguar for 900 bones and it was MINT with the exception of one ding by the strap button. mute, case, all the candy, everything 900 bucks.
but, i would pay almost twice that for the EXACT same one.

Aye, well overpriced. I paid just over half that for my old IBM Jag. They are lovely, though.

As was said, a bit pricy. But damn, it is nice!

There must be cheaper used ones about just now though.

$1600 is expensive, but i don't think it's the worst price considering the hike last year. i got mine brand new in 2005 for $1500, and i'm glad i did. see if they'll take $1600 out the door or $1500 + tax? the fit and finish on them is amazing, and i think the pickups are only bested by actual vintage models in terms of authentic, quality jag sondz. scan ebay, and these guitars are not that easy to find, and they're not that cheap when you do. i'm pretty sure that color is discontinued on the american version, too, so i say go for it as long as it still comes with the sweet case and a full warranty. you're unloading A LOT of guitars, dude, and you deserve to at least come away with a quality, US-made classic.

and before anybody thinks i'm knocking them or their guitars, i have a jap made jag as my primary axe as well as a chinese squier duo that i love.

since it's been there for 2+ years, i'd say offer them $1200 and see wassup. paying full price like that for something is for chumps. steal that shit! haggle with the naggle.

$1600 ain't full price for a new one (msrp is $2300, mf has 'em for $1800), but i know what you're saying. definitely lowball them on a guitar they've held onto for 2 years. only thing they can say is it is a discontinued color (confirmed via fender site).

if they're asking $1600, and you pay $1600, that's paying full price.

You can get a thin skin with matching headstock for $1500, if you're into that sort of thing.

lulz @ Fender

I know you can get the thin skins in nice colours, but the AVRI now only comes in black, white and sunburst. Imaginative as ever.
