65 just misses out on it being pre cbs right? That in itself makes a difference. In the UK it would go for possibly $1000 maybe less without the original case.

refinished? i'd say $500 or less. good condition, original finish ones with cases have gone in the $700 range on ebay lately.

i remember ages ago you could score a musicmaster II from the 65 era for about 500 from online guitar shops, but that was every bit of 8 years ago, and in reality in that time other shortscales have gained about 1/3 of the value from then until now.
i'd guess 500-700 as long as everything is og, and it has the hard case.(im keeping the finish in mind as well)

I guess I'll just have to admit that I paid too much when I paid 500 a year ago for an excellent condition all original 76 with case. Doesn't detract from my love for the guitar - this one:

does anyone know if i were to buy a Musicmaster and bought a new Mustang pickguard and had it routed to fit a bridge pickup and switches, the pickguard would fit right in and turn it into a Duo II? I really want to do this.

If it's a 60s one the body will already be routed for a bridge pickup. They came like that from the factory. Or have a look at the already hacked 70s one dave b is selling.

Despite being an old thread (recently bumped) - I'm going to post a few of my observations.

'64 was the first year of the offset MusicMaster - and also the first year of the longer 24" scale neck (the 22.5" is too short!!).

So, toss the "pre CBS" additional value that you usually find out the window. Practically speaking, '64-67 MusicMasters are the most desirable - as they are playable (24" scale) and Nitro finished.

These were also available in the 22.5" scale - and these models are much less desirable if you are any sort of working or even active jamming musician. 22.5" is ok for lounging and playing, but the scale is just too short for regular use.

My observations: A MusicMaster from '64-'67 with a 24" scale neck is worth ballpark $650-900 if all original. If super clean, $1100-1200. Knock off $100 or 150 if it doesn't have the original case.

22.5" models are worth substantially less - about $200-300 less than the 24" scale version - and for good reason.
