It must be good for something. For example, my friend James took the twisted neck off his crappy Chinese Strat copy and uses it to prop up the bonnet of his car when he's working on it.

Can you be more specific?

Anyway, have you seen http://www.musicradar.com/tuition/guita ... -213316/13 ?

Intersting chart you linked there Nick. Was surprised the Jagmaster was 19th. I saw one of the Jet Kings in a shop in Bath the other week and asked the assistent about it and he said you would be better off with a CV Duo Sonic if you wanted that "surf" guitar look

Okay, i'll answer then.
They are okay, essentially it's an intermediate/beginners guitar but with a few upgrades could last you years. Ibanez dont make crap, even their budget guitars would put more expensive models by other brands to shame, especially concerning playability. The GAX DC models are awesome for the money.
If you can, try before you buy.

I'd second this. Generally Ibanez are solid as all get out.

Also, this is gorgeous:

"stripping" is the word you're looking for, son.

Definitely post pics when you have them.

Oh, and welcome to the boards. :)

I've got the Ibanez Omar guitar (ORM-1) and I think it's great. Basically a Jet King with only one pup and one volume. Build quality is good and sounds good too. Certainly impressive for the price.

A ORM 1 popped up on craigslist near me for $300. I've always kind of wanted one but figured if I had $600 dollars to put towards a guitar I'd get a used Jag but I was seriously tempted.

You don't see them used very often. (Or new at the guitar shops around here)

Okay, I'll be more specific... urm.... I'm considering getting a jet king 2, I like the idea of having humbuckers with a coil tap...

Thanks for all the information so far! :)

P.S.

I play kind of sonic youth-ish, pavement, cap'n jazz style stuff with some experimental stuff thrown in....

:)

Yeah, in French, it's "décaper". French and Spanish are pretty similar.

I loved loved LOVED mine. I only departed with it because it was a really good trade. Sovtek Mig-50 and a 4x12 for it. I plan on getting another. The new ones aren't anything I'm interested in. I do think if I get one again I'll upgrade the pickups. What makes them amazing is the endless sustain and amount of tones via rocker switches.

I hadn't realised how cheap Hofner's were. I've been checking out Thomann and they're pretty reasonable, they'd probably be even reasonabler if the pound wasn't so weak.

I also didn't realise they still made Galaxies. I've always liked the shape of those.
