It's missing something on the modulation side of things... an Ooh Wah and Lo Fi Loop Junky will feature in the next couple of months too. Though those might be on a different board, I like the idea of having two sets of four pedals. The little VEX board and the ole faithful. I've turned into quite the VEX (pedals) fan.

Vexter Lo Fi would be radcore! I'm thinking I may sell my hand painted BoR, buy a Vexter BoR and buy a painted Lo Fi.Haze wrote:Vex is making a Vexter SHO and Lo-Fi you should hold out for that
The Lo-Fi is terribly over priced imo, sounds great but i wouldn't buy one at the going rate.
The FF was bought for me as a present and I'm a big fan of the Vex line so I'd have no qualms about buying a painted Lo Fi. Sure, 'for what they are' they're a little bit pricey but you're paying for the R&D, artwork and life-time warranty when you're buying a painted VEX.
I'm turning into quite the fan boy to be perfectly honest. The Tremorama, Ring Tone, Wooly Mammoth, Loop Junky and Ooh Wah all appeal to me the most out of what I don't have. I use the FF like I would the Machine, BoM (metal, not Mike!) is of no use and same goes with the Octane, etc. So it looks like I have a while to go yet!

"it's too heavy" .... "but it sounds good" ... "yeah man, but it's really too heavy" ... "aaah c'mon, it sounds fun-tastic" .... "naaaah, it's too big" ... "hey, it's smaller than your Marshall stack" ... "who needs that much power?" ... "maybe no-one, but would you spend double the money on half the power?" ... ... ... well yes it's the mighty Twin Reverb, as you might have guessed. I was unsure to post them here because the usually following discussion is so predictable
But I just spent some €€€ on new caps and tubes and service, and whenever I turn it on, I fall in love. It sounds so fantastic.

Nice Twin.
They are great amps, but are overly heavy and a bit too loud. I doubt I have ever played a gig that was not mic'd where I could have turned a twin up to 5 or 6. Most people I know that gig with them say they are lucky if they can turn it up to 3. That is the problem. No amp likes to be gigged at 2-3 on the volume. Even my super reverb was that way until i started putting a baffle in front of it...

They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...
I don't know ... this is the much dizzed master volume version here. When using a common single coil guitar, I have the vol on 6-7 and the master maybe on 4 or a little above, that is comfortable rehearsal or stage volume. Of course it can do much louder, but it doesn't need to for a good sound. I once recently played a gig where is was not mic'd, and there I had it around 5,5 or so. I was comfortable with having more than enough power that evening, where the stage sound really sucked.
It depends on what you want. If you want to crank your amp for natural distortion, you should not choose a Twin. It has some overdrive when I turn vol on ten and have a guitar with hotter pickups, but not much. It's simply the wrong amp for that. But playing mainly surf and some country, I like it that I can do great sounding cleans at any volume I want. And I mean any volume - I can also play it at home levels and get a real good sound. And for the dirtier jobs I either use a booster to push it or a distortion. It's a great basis for pedals.

look at the fuzz probe.Haze wrote:are those all seperate? as in three pitchblacks and two tiimmys ect.
Kinda nice to have a large board and a small board depending on if you're playing a full set or just jamming but three fairly small boards?
it's got the same scratches in the first two pictures.
plus if i go all internet super sleuth the EXIF tells me the three pictures were taken in different years with the top one being the most recent.
