yea but this one has free shipping. ;)

i'm starting to see evidence of what you are talking about. I've seen a few '65/'66 original finish Mustangs sell for same or less than my '72 compstang. Might have to pick one of these suckers up eventually!

Do you know when they stopped using nitro finish? '68-ish?

They stopped using nitro on bodies in 1968. The necks were a little later and the headstock faces were still nitro for a couple years after they started using poly on the rest of the neck.

Me too. A Competition Orange Mustang is near the top of my list of things I want but probably won't have.

For three grand you at least want pictures of the neck stamp, back of the neck and under the pickguard.
The guitar shows mostly mild play wear for 40+ year old instrument with a few nicks, dings, and scratches thrown in for free. Frets are good and fingerboard wear in minimal. A real "WOW" guitar in person and you won't want to put it down!
But really the main problem I have with it is that guitar is 40 years old but it looks more like four. It's missing 36 years of play wear. Despite what the description says that guitar has been put down for most of it's life. I'd much rather one like robvondon's that have been played a lot.
Shabba.

i agree. i've seen a couple new-looking compstangs and they don't look nearly as cool as mine, which has great looking dings and gouges and a nicely worn and aged pearloid. I guess if i wanted a new looking one, i could get a MIJ competition orange for under $1k.
