I played a custom classic ac30 today, but I think it was a new version of it. it was the vox ac30c2
It was really really good. I loved every tone it made, it has celestion greenback speakers it seems like they were trying to kinda cut the bullshit that the original custom classics had and just give you an affordable raw ac30. it has 4 inputs and no blend switch to blend the two channels, it doesn't have all the power options that the first CC has, it also didn't have all the little switches on each section of the amp. it was just raw British tone, and I loved it so much. pro link.
I think I have found my new amp. I was always wanting to get a twin reverb but i loved this amp so much, and can actually see myself using the drive section on this amp too. I loved it.

For me I love the newest Kooks ablum. You can hear that classic AC30 crunch through out, good stuff. As for the Blues, I think it's about a 600$ difference between the Greenback version and the blues speaker version which is not worth the money. Instead by the AC30 w/ Greenbacks and if you want more tone buy a pair of Weber Alnico Blues. Better speakers for 1/3 of the price.
I prefer the greenbacks in these. Personally i cant stand the Blue's breakup. 15w just isn't enough with an ac30. Sounds great in an ac15 but for the 30 the 25w greenbacks have a more vintage brit rock feel
agreed haze, I loved the greenbacks in this thing. I dont need to play 500 more for blues, the greenbacks were just fine. Beggars made me really think about an ac30 and the cleans on this amp just blew me away, I think it could take pedals better than a twin reverb.

I've noticed these recently and they do seem to sound fantastic. I have sort of always wanted an AC30, and this one seems to be the most applicable to my taste in recent years. However at £699 they are not cheap, and for that much, I would probably opt for the AC15 Heritage Head instead
Being someone who loves who alnico blues (they are over priced) and I will say they are a very very specific sound. It took me quite a few months to figure out how to use them and be happy in live situation. Greenbacks do sound fantastic with vox amps, If I were you, I'd shoot for the greenback version. I'm bummed I don't work at the music store anymore so i can't try this thing out when it come it, I was stoked about this amp.
they're very nice amps, but the greenbacks take from the "british tone", believe it or not. i actually spent a fair amount of time (just yesterday in fact) with a korean CC2, and a korean AC30 head into a cab with blues in it. the blues are so much more clean, and lush. the greenbacks are great speakers, especially in voxs', but if you have the extra dough (which it sounds like you might not), the blues are worth it to me.
to be honest, i find the wharfdale 12's to be better all around speakers than the greenbacks. of course, i'd kill for a set of greenbacks in my cab.
I played one of the new 15s locally a couple of days ago, greenback loaded. It was a great amp, and only £450 new seems a good deal to me. I've never played through a blue speaker, but the greenback seemed good to my ears, certainly giving lots of usable tone.
I just need pay day now
I keep looking at the handwired series, but for what the Chinese model could do, I think I'd rather save the difference in money.
I own a Heritage series handwired AC30 and there is no other amp i've come across that really sounds like it. But I would definitely try one first, just because it's so different than any other AC30, they really don't have much clean headroom in a LOUD live situation. They also are the most touch sensitive amp i've played around that wattage. I've had mine a year now and gigged with it pretty hard last year and never had an issue. But I might have bought this new AC30 if it had been around to save some money at least. It's all really up to how much you are willing to spend and how it sounds to you. But there would be nothing wrong with getting one of these new ones, i wish they were out when i was shopping last year.
Just buy it. Finally got my AC30 CC1 in and it sounds great. Great Crunch, Great Clean, Different sound than the rest of the amps out there. It also records exceptionally well compared to my Fender. Heck, I can pretty much throw the mic up close with minimal movement and I get a great sound. Also, it takes pedals far better than my Deluxe Reverb, IMO, which really helps with recording as well. A great amp, hands down.

i've been seriously considering a speaker swap in my 2x12 because its such a quality cab and i can see it lasting a long time. Also the speakers really bother me. They are Line 6's Celestion speakers which were designed to be used with their POD products that use speaker cabinet emulations, thus, the speakers have a flat frequency response and it makes things sound rather bland. Its really more like a PA than a traditional guitar cabinet. But i love me the sound of the greenbacks i've played through and i think they'd go great with an overdriven fender

Yh the wharfdale's are suprisingly good. I bought a secondhand AC30CC2 with the intention of upgrading the speakers at some point but in truth I can't find anything wrong with them. Theyre far better than the old Peavey ones i had in the Windsor half-stack I used to own.
I picked up a AC30CC2 recently on the cheap, and I'm really impressed with how the warfdale speaker sound. They really handle pedals and don't have that spikey/shrill sound I used to get with my DRRI.
It's got more bells and whistles than I'm used too but it's a nice change of pace. It seems somewhat fragile but it's so damn heavy I doubt I'd gig with it much anyway.

Yes, I have the AC30CC1 and it blows the grill off of my DRRI. I'm definitely happy with the cleans and love the classic crunch of this amp.
