I have one of the fast fret things. I just used it to lightly treat dry fretboards, it was quite good for that.

I use it to preserve the life of my strings. You will definitely lose that ultra fresh first day of chime and brightness but the preservative qualities of Fast Fret is such that I often keep the same set of strings on for months - lovely, clean and bright with no dull spots, dirt, rust or anything.

The stick I've got at the moment has lasted nearly a year. I had to buy this one cos I lost the previous. Well worth it.

I might add that it does also add a bit of extra slip but it's not a magical cure for shit playing.

i use gibson string cleaner that is pretty much like nail polish remover but have never put moisturizer on a fretboard, and some guitars i'v had for a pretty long time and have gotten a lot of use, if i change the strings i might clean the fretboard a bit because it's just too dirty.

this asshole in a band i played in used fast fret before and after each rehearsal and gig, wasn't an asshole for that though, but i thought it was a bit gay to care so much about a guitar, i've little sympathy for my guitars, they don't need it i think.

okay.. yes using of fast fret after a rehearsal sounds to much..
id say when the strings smells like crap (metal) and turning green from sweat.

What's up with that? Unless it's a original Esquire or something of that nature, of course. I don't clean my guitar either, just give them a smacking now and then. And if the strings go green and smelly, just change them!

it was a shecter scorpion lefty or something, but he really was..an ass. i couldn't get on with him. he convinced the other to kick me out because it was getting too loud and wild with me in it. too bad, the songs i wrote and we played them for soundchecks and got people at the venue's attention and not just because we were all lefties, i joined that band and sounded 'out of place' (too noisy). i don't miss them though, it sucks to have to fight in a band. they don't play in badns anymore now and got back to their bank employee jobs.

on fast fret topic, i've never bought it, so pricey, i do have a bottle of gibson string cleaner that i use sometimes; when my strings are REALLY filthy. i like filthy strings on guitar but on bass i like a clear sound so i use it on bass strings more frequent.

I didn't like it too much. Felt weird, however I ate fried chicken and played and that was fantastic.

jaque, nice.
a buddy of mine got me some a few years ago. i used it here and there, never noticed anything, but then again at the time i changed strings at least every 6-8 weeks and re-did my intonation/oiled my fretboard. the strings on my jagstang right now have been there for..... 3 months i think, either way they are dead as balls and need to be changed.
