Different folks, different strokes I guess. My Japanese Jaguar gets more play than my '64 does! Mainly because I can gig with it and not worry about it too much. But still a solid guitar, good as any avri I've played.

For more than a grand you should really look into the vintage mustangs, even if just in parts. You can pay someone $1.5k for a guitar that won't be worth more than $600 to anyone else or you can pay the same money for something that will increase in value over time.

I've got a super clean vintage 1971 mustang + OHSC available that happens to be in need of a finish (original comp. red stripped).

Man I've owned a Japanese Reissue Jaguar that was the biggest piece of junk guitar I've ever played. The neck was sticky and played like crap. The p/u are weak. I'd rather buy a Mexican one than a Japanese one. That's just my opinion based on experience...

I'm talking about the 'japanese market only' comment. Do you seriously believe that they make the guitar and then when they set it up they keep all the best ones for the Japanese market and send the so-so ones out for export? If you do you need to stop taking ebay descriptions so seriously and be a little more sceptical.

They get some nice colours and a few extra models, but if you don't like the guitars to the extent you'd describe one you owned as ' the biggest piece of junk guitar I've ever played' then that doesn't matter at all.

I've owned both the import and export Jaguars from Japan and there is no difference in quality, just the aesthetics.

I own a 65 Fender Duo Sonic II and a Fender Mustang 65 Reissue. There's only two things where the older one is offering more quality: One is the switches, the other is the pickguard. Apart from that, the new one is equally good in any aspect (even the pickup bobbins).

But if you think about spending that kind of money, you should be able get yourself a vintage Mustang in the colour you like. The market is so fucked up, you get compstangs for under a grand in Europe at the moment.
