Chunky? I find it almost to thin to be usable on the upper frets. I hated it.

yeah i find it chunky, mind you my comparison was my `71 mustang and my `65 mustang necks..
as i no longer have both of those guitars and i don't play my tele very often i'm not sure how it compares to teh jag cp hh neck..
but its wider then then new duo cv necks.

Do you guys know why they shifted jagmaster production from Japan to China?

i can only guess at cost of production, and the fact that they changed every spec on the guitar

well, I think they changed the specs because they moved the production. fujigen or whoever built the vista ones probably doesn't share their templates, tooling, etc. with other factories. so the new factory had to come up with their own plan to build the guitar. they were probably already making plenty of 25.5" squiers and decided it would be easiest to build the jagmaster like that as well.

but yes, the move was definitely cost/money related.

I can't vouch for anything but the Vistas; but I can vouch that they are fantastic!

A White/Tort Vista Jagmaster was the first electric geetar I got (in Summer '06 I think, for about £150 posted from Germany) and it set my standards too high when playing just about any other guitar!

It was from this kinda random, google-found page here (Jagamastar sale - I'm down as R.G.)

I've got the latter model, with the bullet truss rod. The neck is second to nothing I've played since, I've yet to feel a need to change pick-ups and the whole thing looks and feels like I should've paid far more for it than I did.

I'm a lefty so it's basically a Super-Sonic to me but there's no real neck-dive at all.

All in all, I love it and will NEVER sell it. ever.

(I've still not put pics of any of my stuff up yet, so I'll need to get around to that soon).

We need to start tagging the lefties on the forum. Why the hell are there so many lefties on this particular site?

Doesn't the upper horn get in your way? Basically, I wanted a Jagmaster and got a Supersonic so it would be the right way up. I'm curious to see pics of you playing yours.

you should ask that on the fender.com forum, in the squier section. i'm sure a lot of folks could relate to what you're saying.

how about a separate forum section for lefties? like click "shortscale" (for example), then Lefty and Righty sub boards. its an idea right?

serfx wrote:yes.

this is why i used the neck from my new breed jagmaster to convert my affinity telecaster to a 24"
So, can you put a Strat neck (25.5" scale ) on the new Jagmasters ?

Also could I use the neck from the new Jagmaster on a MIM Duo-Sonic ?

Finally went to a Guitar Center and played one of them Chinese Jagmasters.

Yeah, the neck is chunky, it felt like a Tele neck which I'm none too fond of.

I don't know if some sand paper could make it feel closer to a SuperSonic neck but I'm putting that on the back burner. I do have a project former-strat body that I would love to convert to 24", but I'm not sure yet. I have other things to buy right now.

and i swapped the neck on mine to a squier tele neck, and put the conversion neck on my tele (yes there is a small gap, as they do have different heals)
