Free-Way 6-position toggle switch

Post by paul_ »

Someone awhile back was asking where they could find a 6-way Gibson-style toggle as on the Jimmy Page Black Beauty sig... I don't recall whether he ended up finding one or not but I've just noticed they sell them in stewmac now.

Don't know but it comes with wiring diagrams according to the paper listing.

It says requires les Paul switch cavity modification, on US ones it'd be an especially large amount of routing because they aren't longshaft to go through the top... ideal for SGs though.

HERE'S HOW I THINK IT WORKS:

Basically, two 3-way DPDT switches put together, one on each side. DPDT switches with a center position can be either center-on or center-off (and different wiring schemes require one or the other). I think those 6 holes on the top allow access to some type of switch or adjustment for determining whether each side is center-on or center-off.

Clever. Useful for a 2 humbucker guitar if you can do full/splits/out of phase.

That switch looks more like a manual transmission on a car. Wouldn't have to worry about the wife playing your guitar, she wouldn't know how to back it out the driveway
