um, i don't know how the discussion turned to one questioning my relationship with my girlfriend, and i don't really really appreciate how off topic this has come.
i think the original topic was my noobity on intonation and scales.
so back on topic now, would a 24 3/4" work without much problems instead?
the fender MIM strat neck is not that bad actually and i really liked it on my old guitar, but after i get the whole build together i will make my decision to stick with a shorter scale neck or if i could somehow use some kind of compensating nut and dial in the mustang bridge saddles

Yeah sorry man a strat neck will never work on a jag, I build guitars as a business and I have tried it on a jag in my early days, no luck. We gotta get you into a short scale neck, a B&B would be sweet with that white body, but they are pretty much the holy grail of short scale necks, you can get 'em but you will pay big bucks for em, but worth it. But if you're not into ascetics I've seen bronco necks go for $98 on ebay recently.

so as stated in another thread, the jaguar has been completed (since my parts arrived on monday)

i am thinking of getting p90 pickups for the jag due to the underwhelming sound coming from the stewmac goldenage strat single coils, any ideas where i can get a custom pickguard for the jaguar? or how i should go about cutting into my pickguard?

i guess what initially threw me off was the string tree monstrosity. what's the reasoning behind it?
it was my first time putting together a guitar from scratch, and i knew i was going to **** up somewhere, i mean, tackling the electronics of the jaguar was hard enough, but that went through alright. when it came time to put together the intonation and bridge pieces, i just said screw it and went with a easier setup in the string tree so i wouldn't have problems with the tremolo or mustang bridge...intonation has been hit or miss so far, some frets/notes feel 'deader' in some areas but i am chalking it up to the strings and the need to file down the nut some more.
i also have some problems with the jaguar/jazzmaster trem lock not working though, i might take it apart to look at it.
We are the keepers of this almost useless neck info. You came to the right place, but not soon enough. Meanwhile any of us who have built stuff have fucked up before, so props for sticking with it. It looks great.
I like the idea of shoving Jag parts into a Jazzmaster. Get that and a baritone and have teh full range!
