I sprayed in the garage without proper equipment, and probably took ten years off of my life!

Not at home, but the backside of the neck photos that I have handy are here...

Gorgeous work! Ya know, I really like the over tinting on the horn and arm contour; it really works with the aging.

Thanks fellas! I like the uneven aging as well. My Mustang kinda has that going on... it is a '65.

The white one here (next to the blue MusicMaster - which I did my best to replicate the forearm wear from the Mustang on)

Also - speaking of the above pictured '65 Jag... I just went through and did a bunch of work on it last night. I didn't realize how far it was off from its potential until I'd gotten my project set up right. The '65 was getting its ass kicked! So, I went to work. The '65 had a major routing job done on it at some point... and it also had a big ol' warp under the bridge and mute on the pickguard. The warp caused the bridge to sit high, which was apparently compensated for with a huge neck shim, and the routes in the body meant that the pup screws wouldn't reach wood until fairly deep, so I had the pickups set fairly low...

I removed the mute, which let the bridge sit lower, which let me remove the neck shim, which allowed me to adjust the pickups closer to the strings. I added some more foam in the cavity to get those pickups sitting a bit higher as well. It plays and sounds ten times better now!

And, while I was in there... guess what I found out!??!! IT WAS THE GUITAR'S BIRTHDAY! :laugh2: 1 April 65 B is the neck stamp. That is too funny, 'eh - an April Fools Guitar!

sorry to disillusion you but ... 1 is the neck code for Jaguar necks used in 1962-1965

Example- 1 MAY 62 B

1 is a part code (not day of the month)

MAY is the month

62 = 1962

B= the nut width

Well, I spent a good chunk of the day bringing back this guitar's battle scars in all their glory!

I only filled a couple of very large dings on this guitar prior to refinishing it - the rest of the dings I left alone and painted over them. Of course, after finishing, it was easy to see where these dents and dings and scrapes were at. So, now, the original dents and dings and deep scratches are back as they were when the guitar had its original finish.

man, fantastic job, you really make some tasteful refinishes, shame you have to let them go though

if the jag ever has to go up, please let it come through the shortscale family first, i would hate to see that thing go to some stranger

First, thanks much. Second, this one won't go anywhere... It really is a great playing and sounding guitar.

My '67 ES335 is going, my '65 Mustang is going (to a friend), my '67 Coronado will be going, the '75 Bronco may be going, and an Ibanez RG and Ibanez Iceman are going... Along with some speaker cabs.

Gotta pay the bills!
