I've never really had a bad experience with any carrier and it fucking sucks to see this shit happen.

Germanium OD and footswitch for the amp are coming within a couple days. Should be interesting to see what the vibrato stage sounds like. So far the amp is no longer making the annoying popping sound at all. The SED =C= 6L6GCs sound much better in this amp than the Deville. Still haven't had time to tackle the actual cabinet repair yet, I suppose the best course of action is to get some wood glue to keep the top attached after resetting the nails? I'd love to give a demo, as my Cyclone sounds many times better through this than the Deville but I have no gear to record with. The amp is really quite versatile, and I couldn't be happier.

Germanium OD and footswitch are already out for delivery, after I ordered it less than a day and a half ago. UPS Ground got it to me in one day flat, so I'll be able to see how it works today **happy**

btw, over at offsetguitars a guy is selling an original nice '65 bandmaster cab for $350, with original speakers, of course.
he's in michigan, just in case.

Finally got the tremolo pedal, and when I turn it on I hear a clicking noise but the tremolo doesn't turn on. Could it be the tremolo preamp tube?

yep i'd try swapping that one. OR it's that little black "roach" in the circuit, i think it's called an "optocoupler" or so. they "wear out" or might break/get damaged, specially when thrown around by USPS people... cost like $5 or so.

but try the tube first.
good luck!

Replaced both tubes that might have been it and it didn't help. Looks like I'll have to replace the optocoupler, which isn't so bad as it's a cheap part, but the problem is I've never soldered. Also have my eye on a blackface Bandmaster cabinet, as it appears repairing this one would take more work than I've time for...

I ordered a silverface reproduction cabinet from Mather cabs in TN. Prices for empty Bandmaster cabs were going to high for the condition (battered tolex, etc..). Next step will be the optocoupler. New cabinet with the proper tolex and grill cloth should be here in 1-2 weeks. The 12AT7 was bad and I ended up replacing it with JJ's version of the 12ax7. Amp sounds great and there are no more weird noises. Amp works great but it'll be nice to not have to worry about speaker vibrations tearing the cabinet apart.

New amp cabinet got here and it looks perfect... I just can't use it. Two of the chassis strap screws are stripped and bent. Anybody know how to remove stripped and bent screws?
